1 month through TRT, experiencing high estrone but decent estradiol. Help appreciated

Hello,

I've frequented these forums often as a guest but I've been concerned about a few things so I wanted to make an account and see if anyone has any advice they could offer.

I started TRT about 2 months ago after sustaining a testicular injury a couple years back. I always figured there was a reason for my lethargy but finally got a blood test and my T was at 137. I began getting biweekly injections of 200mg (not exactly sure the compound). I feel somewhat better but I thought there might be more issues at play here. When I was due for my bloodwork, I asked the receptionist to ask the Dr to add estrogen in my test. I was scoffed at and asked why a man would possibly need to get his estrogen tested. Anyway, I was able to get the test and my results are somewhat confusing me:

26 years old
5'8" 200Lbs
Total T: 451 ng/dl
Free T: 15.5 pg/ml
Estrone: 99 pg/ml (ref range: 12-72)
Estradiol: 25.4 pg/ml

So it appears I'm in the "normal" range for everything except estrone. Could this high level cause me to still feel fatigued and lethargic or is that more of an estradiol problem? I got ahold of some Arimidex but I'm wondering if it will do more harm than good since my E2 is in normal range.

I guess my main questions are
1.) What are the effects of high estrone?
2.) Is it worth taking the AI to counter the high estrone?

Thank you for reading this and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Few of us ever test estrone... from Wikipedia:

"Exposure to estrone can cause anorexia, nausea, vomiting, edema, feminization including gynecomastia and erectile dysfunction in men."

So high estrone is doubtlessly a bad thing, but in trying to bring it down you're probably going to lower your estradiol below where you want it.

In this situation, I'd watch carefully for symptoms and only bring it down if you have problems.

Possibly a lot of us are walking around with high estrone levels but don't know it because as I wrote it rarely gets tested for.

Estrone requires TREMENDOUS amounts to cause issues in men as we simply don't make much, and it's far less potent than estradiol. If you're still not feeling well, I'd attack that total testosterone first. I've been in the 400's, and still felt crappy myself.

Keep in mind though that as testosterone increases, so does estradiol. This means you may have to make a choice of having a higher test with needing (potentially) to take an aromatase inhibitor, or having slightly lower testosterone values.

Go by how you feel, do not let a blood test be anything more than a tool to help steer you in the right direction. Many doctors make this mistake and need to be reminded that it's QUALITY of life that matters, not some magic number on a printout.

My .02c :)

Thanks to both of you, I appreciate the feedback and that makes a lot of sense. I couldn't find a lot about estrone but like you said, it seems estradiol is what really needs to be watched.

That's an interesting point, at what level do you think you really started noticing a big difference?

And lastly, I think I'll skip on the AI for now but would it be a good idea (as I've seen others mention) to take .5mg Adex one day after T injection and again 3 days later just to make sure the estradiol doesn't get too high?

Thanks again for the comments!

I didn't start to truly feel better until I broke 750ng/dL, and settled down at around 1000ng/dL. Keep in mind that some men feel fantastic at much less than others, I just happen to be in the other group.

1mg/wk of adex will make things very tough for you. I'd get that testosterone up and see where your estradiol sits. I take half that dose for 250mg/wk myself, and I aromatize a great deal.

At 750 I feel like superman. At 483 I feel like Gilbert Gottfried.
