2 Questions about protein selection

I am wondering what you guys choose as less expensive forms of protein?

My cheapest was simply protein shakes, but I noticed in one of 3J's posts that he recommends protein shakes only following WOs. Before that I was drinking a LOT of them. We'll see how tapering off changes things.

Also, what are the best forms of protein that don't take long to make/eat?

The easiest protein I have found so far are microwaving egg whites from a carton and pre-boiling a load of eggs. I also eat a tub of cottage cheese as my last snack.

Any chance you remember where he said that? I usually have a protein shake with carbs added in the morning, one post workout and one if I'm in a jam for cooking time (mid-day at work), so I'm interested in his reasoning.

Wow, I always thought turkey was expensive. I'll need to have a look next grocery outing.

As for the protein shakes, I usually had one in the morning, one to bring up protein in my lunch and one post WO, that's not including the snack shakes that would quite often fill the gaps.

3J's Free Diet Advice
PROTIEN SHAKES (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CASIEN SHAKES) SHOULD BE CONSUMED POST WORKOUT ONLY!!!!!! DO NOT CHEAT YOURSELF BY REPLACING A MEAL WITH PROTIEN SHAKE, THEY DO 1/8 OF WHAT REAL FOOD WILL DO FOR YOU IN ITS PLACE...

For some reason I can't input this as a clickable url so here it is steroidology.com/forum/diet-forum/153271-free-diet-advice-3j.html

Thanks for finding that for me DBStack. And yes (extra lean) ground turkey is awesome.

I'm assuming 3J is against too many shakes as youre missing out on nutrients from real food.

i eat a wide variety of foods for a mixture of amino acids. eggs, tuna, chicken, whey, beef, casein, cottage cheese.

i pretty much outlined what i eat on a daily basis minus the carbs and fats.
