20 Rep Squats

Good stuff but I don't think its for me. I might do it after my football days are over, I think the three sets are good for endurance purposes, plus my last 20 always seems like hell anyway so I still get the mental benafit. Though I do think i might apply it to change up my leg press and load it up and see what I will die trying to get one set of 20 on as a finisher on my leg days. Plus on leg press I'll have the safty drop incase my legs give, I don't like the idea of my legs buckling while squating to dangerous with my already bad knees.

This is why its not for me my focus is on keeping my feet close and pure explosion, its only on the end of the third set I let it become just getting the weight up.

3 sets of 20 is definitely not the philosophy behind 20 rep squats. One set of 20 and the last five should be virtually impossible to accomplish. You must have a spotter to do these correctly and impeccable form is very important or else you run the risk of injury.

If yoy are going to do a 20rep squat I would suggest moving over to the smith machine especially when going heavy, its much easier on your llower back.

But harder on your knees--proper form with a spotter is better

not if you move your feet (unnaturally) more forward...but then too much strain on quads (for me). still, for most people (who have horrible squat form), smith machine is helpful.

regarding bad back: ABS ABS ABS. having suffered several problems with my back, i learned the hard way. abs are solid now and i work them every other day, for life.
