400 ng/dl is low testosterone level?

Xwant

I am banned!
I'm 21 years old. My testosterone level was 400 ng/dl last year. Now, I checked my testosterone again, it is 400 ng/dl like last year. My doctor said everything is okay. My LH is 3.3 and FSH is 3.2.

I have low libido. For example, I don't enjoy while watching porn.

You're going to get a lot of opinions on this....

I was at 434ng/dl before I started TRT. However I am also 9 years older than you and had a lot of other symptoms as well.

There will people who say 434 is fine and it's wrong to go on TRT.
There will be people ( for example My Harvard grad Physician) say 434 is far too low for my age and I would feel a lot better between 800-1000. Coupel Testosterone with hCG, AI, routine blood work, routine blood donation, the cost benefit is there.

I'm 4 weeks in and already feel a ton of benefits - workouts are better, more energy, my blood pressure is lower, diet stabilized (loved to binge on sugar but now no more), and more importantly and by far the GREATEST benefit I have experienced is I am so dam calm ! Very very calm... peaceful.... enjoy life no matter what I am doing.

Those are the benefits however the cost is measured by the beholder. Did it suck sticking myself with a needle 5 days a week ( 2x IM, 3x subq) ? Yes.

Does it bother me now? No, It's just like taking a pill.... in / out then it's over.

Am I happy this is for life? Yes. Even if this shortens my life (which research so far proves otherwise) I would rather live the rest of my life feeling like this than before.

And lastly, I did exhaust EVERY possible natural way to increase my testosterone before I went to TRT.

You have a doctor? Because most of doctors don't put guys on TRT if testosterone levels are in 400s.

If you have general impotence... difficulty maintaining, and/or getting fully erect. Get your prolactin checked. An elevated prolactin level will zap the libido and cause ED. The test is around 40 bucks on privatemdlabs if you have a labcorp in the area. Pituitary Adenomas are one cause, but some medications can elevate prolactin. Anyways its a good thing to rule out.

At 21.. it's a tough decision for me to recommend going straight to TRT.

I would first try bulking. Maintain a caloric surplus for many months and stay true to it. If you aren't gaining 1/2 a lb or more per week, you are not in a surplus. If you are maintaining a surplus with shitty food, expect shitty blood levels.. you cannot expect to have ideal output, without ideal input. Whole, healthy foods. Limit processed garbage, pop, high sodium, simple sugars, etc. After you have consistently and healthily gained weight every week for 3-6 months, then have bloodwork done (at both 3 months, and 6 months) and see how well your body is working for you then.

Stimulate the body naturally with a training regimen that will challenge you, but being the nature of your current problem take more rest than a normal person would. Try 1 day on, 1 day off to begin with. Do light cardio on 3 off days to improve cardiovascular health and overall health. Gauge your rest needs by your progress. If you aren't seeing increases in strength, or size.. it's likely because you've broken down the muscle again, or wore out the CNS before it had time to recover. If you truly have low T, you will need to accommodate that the entire time it remains that way. If this helps, and your levels rise after a few months.. you may be able to workout more frequently or more intensely.

You may just be over worked all the time right now.. stressful life, stressful or physical/repetitive job, frequent training, bad food, infrequent rest are all going to add up to a powerful cocktail poised to destroy your hormonal system! Identify problems, research solutions, create a plan, initiate plan. Test results.

ALWAYS sleep 7-9 hrs. No excuses. Tell off your friends or family unless it's an emergency.. Commit.

-------------------------------------------

After you've been under a protocol like this for 12-24 weeks.. you may see natural improvements in your hormone levels, strength, size, and overall health.. if not.. you can try maintaining this and looking into a restart protocol. HCG and Clomid dosed and timed properly to act cohesively in an effort to induce recovery.

If this fails..

THEN

Look into replacement therapy.

We're talking up to 6 mos. of dedication to recover naturally. And if that fails, 1.5-2 mos. trying to induce recovery with medications..

21 marks the average spot a male is finished developing physically. 25 marks it mentally. TRT and any other protocol of AAS use will cause shutdown of certain sectors of the brain.. this is frowned upon on a developing mind. I hope you can see the depth of that for your future's sake. Cut losses after you've exhausted all efforts.

I did a cycle at 23 going on 24. October cycle start, birthday was in November. I started TRT in June - July at 24 y.o. I was low before starting, and low after 2-3 months beyond that PCT. I was still eating 6-7k calories of whole foods ED, training ED, sleeping 8 hrs.. working my normal work.. So I made the dive then. Don't regret it a bit, and I wouldn't think less of you for feeling the same way.. but you're a few important years younger than I was then. Just be careful.

Good luck in any endeavor, hope I've helped.

I don't know other steroids but I've heard testosterone don't prevent brain development(doctor told this to me.)

Any foreign androgen will shut down the HPTA. Completely. Therefore, exogenous Test will do the same as Nandrolone in this regard.

Starting a cycle is as risky as getting on TRT for you. Do what you want, but it's certainly not going to help the situation you came here asking questions about.. If you're going to committ however, to either, make sure you are calculated, well-planned, and have everything on hand before taking the plunge.

I'll try TRT. I've heard most of guys stopped TRT and came back their natty T or a bit lower. I mean, my testosterone level is alrealdy low. What can I lose? I have no libido, already.

I sleep 11 hours a day and still sleepy. I mean, not during day but still sleepy after waking up.

You sleep 11 hours a day! Damn, that is not good for you at all. You still feel sleepy because your system is out of whack from sleeping too much. Its going to mess you up and turn you into a real loser. Get your diet under control and stay away from the idiot box and make sure to do your homework here and read up all that you can on TRT. Keep us updated.

You're getting too much sleep, thats why you are sleepy. Try reducing that to 8 hours for a week and see if that helps.

I don't think so. My sleep isn't same always. But my testosterone is always in 400s. Sometimes my LH is 7. Still in 400s... Prolactin is well.

you can lose your development. wait till age 25 and if your still having those levels and issues go on hrt. by doing it now you may make it so that you need to be on hrt for life. if you wait and there is some unfinished development then the issue may fix itself. I rec waiting 2-4yrs IMO

21-25 are the best years...i wouldnt throw them away. and then you hit 35 and you have low test again. just not worth the wait in my opinion. rule out pituitary issues(mri) and everything else, try a restart and then trt.
waiting with low T and doing nothing only leads to depression.

400 is not that low.. I built a business, had 4 kids, was athletic and enjoyed life plenty with low test. Went in for blood work and checked my Test and found out I was at 168. very very low. Was a surprise to me. I functioned just fine before (though I struggled to put on muscle mass).

If you get on TRT now then your just gonna shut down your hpta permanately for the rest of your life. You wanna be stuck on a needle and having to donate blood every month for the rest of your life,, and having to constantly get medical check ups to make sure everything is in line? Or do you wanna just live with slightly 'un-optimal' testosterone levels and be fine
