a question about diet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check your calender.. the weekend is here.. we have already dug ourselves into a hole..

i should have a "no saturday" rule.. lol
Well said :)

The only difference between me & 3J's approach is literally clean vs iifym & cardio.
Everything else we agree on - 2 guys who have trained many elite athletes with different approaches that BOTH work.

Kozmo: come on man, you know better than to give me that postworkout insulin brocrap - "oh shit its 15mins past my workout, better get some waxy maize in my system or I won't make any gains".

FYI I could post bunch of science to conclusively prove my point, but the weekend is coming & I don't want to go all geek mode on you guys ;)

Go geek when you get the chance. Again I agree with you however we can also agree that injectable insulin is used to facilitate the precious gainzzzz. I am not saying the insulin spike is the same or that I buy into any supplements. I do have some vitamins and creatine in my pantry. My point is you get a different chemical reaction based on how much sugar you ingest.
Let me ask you this also are there medical conditions where a low glycemic diet is helpful. After we answer yes to that then we can agree that different carb digestion rates effect the body differently.
I really want to agree with you you are way more versed in nutrition then I am. It just seems like we are missing something

I don't see why people can't understand what the correct form of iifym is... Your eating clean minimally processed foods with a little wiggle room for some treats... That's it..

There isn't a big difference between white rice and brown.. Check the gi Vs gl and you'll see my point... There is a big difference between white rice and something that is a completely simple carb....

I would bet that if you compared a correctly set up iifym diet with mine it would be very similar

What pisses me off about iifym is the message it sends... People are eating junk and saying hey I hit my macros what does it matter? Lol

U keep scarfing down that number 1 at McDonald's as you tell yourself that lmao

LOL that's how hectic my day was that I didn't realise the weekend had begun - see what happens when you coach bikini competitors who are behind in prep :wallbash:

Lol I'll go geek when I have time to cover all the bases.
Now you see if you were using slin on cycle, then the clean eating thing applies in order to manipulate the spikes more effectively. This isn't something I've looked into in enough detail since I train natties mainly so 3J will probably know more.

The Gi index became obsolete the minute people started combining carbs with proteins & fats, both are very low gi.
The study that first came up with the GI index in the 80s was heavily critisized, rightly so, because he tested the foods in isolation - doesn't apply to normal eating habits.
So different carb rates effect the body differently IF taken in isolation only - the gi of the carbs in the meal is not the important part, the overall gi value of the MEAL is the key.

I've had many successful bodybuilders who absolutely refused to believe that you can get stage ready without eating clean. They truly wanted to believe that eating healthy lead to a better prep - then I proved them wrong & they haven't look back.
Have a look at guys like alberto nunez, eric helms - natties who have reached their max potential with iifym :)

Lol I admit this annoys me too.
IIFYM was originally conceived to alllow certain foods that dieters used to label as bad into their diets e.g. cheese, egg yolks, white carb sources, fruits, etc.
So when someone asked "can I eat fruit or is the sugar bad?" The answer was "if it fits your macros".

IIFYM was NOT created to allow people to see how much junk they can stuff themselves with & still be in a deficit.
Not all takeway meals are bad either. Take a typical mcdonalds meal of burger, chips, salad - you have all 3 macros AND veggies.

The major advantage of iifym over traditional clean dieting is down to long term consistency.
Can you get shredded eating clean, even if you don't enjoy it? Absolutely.
Can you maintain it long term? No - that's why the majority of people end up back at square 1 over the long term.
IIFYM allows flexible dieting - you can still eat what you enjoy but in smaller portions. There's no drastic switch to food choices that you wont eat for the rest of year.

Yeah health matters to me I don't eat it if it is not organic unless I'm cheating. I understand that's not an option for everyone. I make sacrifices for my health.

I deal more with people who really want that ripped look and want to get there in a manageable time.. I dont let. Them follow a iifym diet.. I allow cheat meals but if you are contest prep you can forget that you don't get cheat meals you get refeeds lol..

Again, it's not about what's better it's about what works for you...
