when you eat corn, you see corn in your crap.

same with peanuts, and dried cranberries,,, many other things also.

i noticed this and wondered...

if you crap it out whole, that means you didn't get the calories/nutrition from that particular food.

does anyone know if any studies about this have been done?

I think your body absorbs out what it can and just leaves behind the fibrous parts of the foods you listed. I might be mistaken though, and I do believe a small amount of the nutritional value passes through untouched due to the fiber content of those foods.

I've heard that if it floats after you drop the kids off at the pool it means your losing weight

Pretty much right on. The bowel transit time doesn't allow for complete breakdown of certain foods, which is why chewing is very important. Certain amounts of the things listed will go through undigested, but usually not all, unless you are swallowing everything whole. The stomach acid is strong, along with the body's enzymatic potential, but certain types of fiber are able to withstand it because of the exposure time. Given unlimited time, the stomach acid is strong enough to eat through carpet, given a ph of around 1. Some of the oils and nutrient potential is extracted so it's not a complete loss, and the fiber content is good for the intestinal tract, so not to worry.

Looked it up on the net, found this quote in this article all about turd observation:

"Shape: Not to put you off breakfast, but your poop should vaguely resemble a sausage link or a banana. It should be firm but not hard and it should sink to the bottom of the toilet bowl. "Floaters" float because they contain gas or undigested fat. If you produce a lot of greasy stool, then you should reduce your intake of fatty foods. Long and stringy worm-like bits could indeed be parasites, so call your doctor to find out for sure."
