Hi - I am 35, 6'0", 200lb, 18%. About 2 years ago i began lifting seriously after years of running. I started at 170lb and about 12 months later i was at 230. I went from squat/bench/dl of seriously like 120/120/95 to 300/230/375.
My linear gains stopped at around 250/210/350. I tried various means and eked out some gains. Ultimately I saw I had gotten bigger and stronger, but still had a giant spare tire. I did alot of running, tried different kinds of workouts that were shorter rest, higher rep type stuff. I got alot weaker (I don't know what my 1rms are anymore but If I had to guess I would say 225/185/315)., Lost a fair amount of flab, but I still have alot of flab around the middle and man boobs.
I've never had a good body, i ran religiously for years and even at 150 lb I still had boobs and a spare tire. I have always been uncoordinated, slow, and weak. I was kind of stunned that at 33 I was able to get as strong as I got.
I'd like to get a little bigger, but the size i was at at 230 was fine. My main concern is i want to shed the spare tire (yes, I know, I'm 35 - but i've had this forever and NOTHING works).
Currently I'm doing about 3200 calories a day and 300g protein, since I am lifting pretty heavily again.
The more typical stacks I read about are like 400-500 test, with a Novladex PCT. My understanding is that this will make me bigger and stronger, but not tighter/leaner. Should I do something like this first and then do a cutting cycle a few months afterward? Is there some variation on the typical beginner cycle that someone would recommend?
I want to max out on my linear strength gains (hopefully near previous 1rm highs) before I try anything like this, but I figure the sooner I start researching and learning, the better. Based on my past experience, I will probably make gains for a few months before stalling again.
