Am I a good candidate for TRT?

Do you have any links to validate that testosterone doesn't increase risk of prostate cancer?

Thanks. Hopefully speak to him tomorrow...

Here is the first one that Google came up with. You don't have to search to hard on the internet.

Prostate cancer risk in testoster... [J Steroid Biochem Mol Biol. 2006] - PubMed - NCBI

Here is another one.

High levels of circulating testosterone are not... [Int J Cancer. 2004] - PubMed - NCBI

Use Google. It is your friend at times like this. I will let you find the other studies.

Thanks.

Instead of calling the Doctor's office like they asked I dropped in. I only saw the secretary and she had several Urologist offices for me to call. There was a print out with my hormone labs she gave me. I gave her your Basic TRT Overview to give to my doctor.

So, I called all three Urologist offices and the first one they wanted me to see didn't have an appointment until MID JULY.

Another was closed for today. The last one had an appointment available on June 2nd. :( I called the Doc's office and asked if they had any other Urologist offices to recommend...I didn't mind driving. She'll get back to me on Monday.

So, it seems to me he is dumping me on a Urologist given my higher PSA results. My Father's PSA has been in the teens through the 30's for about 15yrs. Had 4 biopsies and no cancer.

The receptionist said that it's pretty normal for specialist offices to be booked a month+ out. There goes my summer.

It is very common for a new patient to have to wait a month or more to get in to see a doc for the first time. Ask them to call you if they have any cancelations. Sometimes that gets you in sooner if you have a flexible schedule.

Yep, the scheduler was pretty helpful and put me on a cancellation list. I am off quite a few week days, but work a 2 week rotating shift so it is what it is.

In the meantime, I got some supplements and will tweak my nutrition to include more quality fats.

I got DIM-Plus, Magnesium, B Complex, Zinc, and Fish Oil. I already have Vitamin D.

I was thinking about getting IC3 also, but wanted to see how I do on the DIM initially. Hoping to drop my E2 a bit. In turn, perhaps my PSA will drop somewhat.

UPDATE 5/10/14:

OKAY. Just got back from seeing the Urologist. Seems to be a decent doctor. They drew blood work to check my PSA and Testosterone again. It was nearly 11AM when they did that.

He started talking about testosterone replacement therapy before i even asked which I was relieved about.

However when he asked me if I knew what my insurance covered and I told him Depo Testosterone he initially seemed turned off to the shots. I told him i think one of the gels were covered, but wasn't sure. He likes the gels/patch because of the even flow of T vs the spikes with shots. I then mentioned how I had been doing research and offered I could inject ever 3.5 days to keep it more even.

After talking a bit more he also said there was a new 3 month shot out (Aveed) as well as the pellet.

I explained whatever it was really needed to be covered by my insurance as I'm on a very tight budget.

We didn't discuss dosing or go into details. He wants the blood work back first then will call me to discuss further.

He did ask me whether having kids was important to me. I did have to think about it. I eventually told him it wasn't something that was important to me as I'm already 43.

Sooo...it seems as though I will get on the bandwagon one way or another. SOMETHING will be better then nothing and it seemed near the end of our discussion he wasn't as adverse to the self injecting shots.

I asked him if he had a lot of patients on the gel/patch and he said he had MANY and it works very well for them.

So I wait once again for the blood results. I will report back with any updates.
