Do you prefer to train in the morning or afternoon? I work till 3:30 pm and I usually go to the gym right after but lately I've kinda been wanting to go before work. So I'm curious as to what you all do, or prefer to do.
I've done just about every combination from 3:30am to late-late night workouts and really feel it comes down to how each different time's benefits meet your needs. I liked the early morning sessions as it would wake me up for the rest of the day and there were usually only a handful of folks in the gym, but I did notice I was sweating the rest of the day (yes, even after a shower) as my "engines were on full blast". I'm currently working out around 4pm every day as that's when my wife is able to get to the gym and I'm trying to teach her how to incorporate resistance training into her fitness goals. It's nice in that I'm already awake and "primed" for action, but I do find the 20 somethings in tight shorts/yoga pants are a bit distracting. I'm a friendly person by nature, but I do tend to have my headphones on extra loud with my "DO NOT DISTURB" face on during sets to discourage would-be talkers from interrupting me.
Late evenings were great in my younger years, but I find myself drawn more to being home and going to bed with the wife than enjoying the quiet atmosphere of the gym at night. I find the night folks to be a lot like the early morning ones, just less doctors and more nurses/etc at night. Again, I really think it's what you feel is a best fit for your needs. With that said, I do think cardio in the a.m. is great regardless.
I do both, i work 2-10 one week and 6-2 one week, good pay lol so 10:30am one week 3pm one week, I prefer the early bird training, on a weekend i go the gym at 7am
5:30 or 6:00am for me, not many people in the gym at that time and no one is bothering me..afternoon it is like a zoo and I get to anxious with too many people that get to close to me, drives me fucking insane...Plus end of day i am mentaly exhausted and tired and worn out so like to start off with a bang.
I'd prefer working out early since my job is very physical and def takes a lot out of me before I even step foot into the gym but my schedule won't allow it. I usually go to the gym around 8pm and its a zoo in there. Just get my shit done as fast as possible and try to get out. Like half mentioned, it gives me an awake feeling so sometimes it interferes with my sleep if I workout too late or it's really packed at the gym.
I enjoy morning workouts, rarely anyone else there and it get me going for the day. Plus i usually walk to the gym and gettin some fresh air in the morning rocks
I did my first early morning training today. I was at the gym by 4:15 and not even 5 people in there. It was only one other guy and myself using the free weights so it was pretty nice. The eca stack is def going to help keep me alive with this new schedule. I think I'm going to have to start doing cardio first though if I want to do it fasted and then afterwards eat a protein bar or something and do my lifts. Overall I liked it though. I was surprisingly pretty awake and not a zombie going there, but then again it was only my first day of doing it lol.
i prefer afternoons...i've done mornings and nights at one point or another when i was on shift work but afternoons feel best for me when I'm on a normal day schedule. I'm not a morning person anyways...
