Wondering if anyone saw any lipid improvements when switching from arimidex to aromasin?

i only ask because my choloesterol levels of "bad " cholesterol is already high, and i have read a few reviews and talked to people who said airimidex actually cause their lipids to get outa whach and their bad cho to raise, and good cho to drop.

any info from you guys who have used either or both?

thanks

aromasin is supperior if you can afford it.

Aromasin (Exemestane) is a steroidal suicide aromatase inhibitor, which means that it lowers estrogen production in the body by blocking the aromatase enzyme, the enzyme responsible for estrogen synthesization. (1)(2)(3)

This stuff was developed to fight breast cancer in post-menopausal women, who need a particularly aggressive therapy, and for whom first line defenses such as SERMS (Tamoxifen) have not worked. This should be our first clue in inferring that this stuff is pretty strong, or at least stronger than some of the other compounds which are used to fight breast cancer.

Aromasin and Side Effects

Aromasin averages an 85% rate of estrogen suppression (4), so its clearly a very effective agent for bodybuilders and other athletes wanting to avoid estrogen related side effects such as gyno, acne, or water-retention brought on by aromatizing steroids. Specifically, Exemestane dose this by selectively inhibiting aromatase activity in a time-dependent and irreversible manner (hence the "suicidal" portion of its name, I guess).(7)

As with most of the compounds in this class, it also causes a reasonable rise in testosterone levels (6), and as you may have guessed, this rise in testosterone means that Exemestane can also cause androgenic sides(8)(9)(10). As you can see from the chart below, exemestane is very effective at both lowering estrogen (estradiol) and raising testosterone:

FIG. 1. Estrogen and androgen plasma levels after 10 d of daily exemestane (25 or 50 mg) in healthy young males (mean SD; n = 9-11). To convert to Systeme International units: estradiol, picomoles per liter (x3.671); estrone, picomoles per liter (x3.699); androstenedione, nanomoles per liter (*0.003492); and testosterone, nanomoles per liter (x0.03467). (13)

So we can see that 25mgs is a very effective dose from that chart, right? As an added benefit, exemestane not only increases testosterone and lowers estrogen, but it also increases IGF levels (11).Additionally Worth noting is that Aromasin may possibly be less harsh on blood lipids (14)than some of the other (similar) compounds we use in the world of bodybuilding or athletics (other AIs). It also has, at best no effect on IGF, and at worst could lower (13) it. AIs are very tricky with regards to inconsistencies in IGF levels.

Unfortunately, you need to take Exemestane for a week to reach steady blood plasma levels of it, and exemestane has a life of 27 hours (12.).

The ability of exemestane to lower estrogen levels by the aforementioned 85% makes it a very nice choice for use in any cycle where aromatizing steroids are used. In addition, since its not too harsh at all on blood lipid profiles, its a very good choice for longer cycles. Its ability to raise both testosterone levels also seem to suggest that it would be a very nice addition to a Post-Cycle-Therapy (PCT).

cjw and mopar, thanks guys for the replys, yeah it is freaking expensive, ive been told if you get it from a chem research lab, its way cheaper and very good quality, but yes very expensive, i am gonna go with what chip is putting me on, for now, and see how i react to it all, and go from there!

thanks again!

j20, I recently switched for Arimidex to Aromasin b/c we found that I don't really respond well to Arimidex. With Arimidex it was difficult for me to manage my E2 levels. I started out on 1 mg 2X a week and found that that was not effective. We switched to .5 mg daily and that also created problems for me.

About a month ago, my urologist switched me to Aromasin at 12.5 mg a day. As of my last blood test, this has helped stabilize my E2 levels in the lower end of the normal range.

It has had no impact whatsoever on my cholesterol levels - still 125 total with 85 LDL and a 40 HDL.

Additionally, I get the Aromasin filled generically as Exemestane by Roxane Pharma and it is pretty cheap.

hey thanks! i appreciate the feedback, i am a bit scared of the arimidex myself as they sent me caps filled with 1.1mg and it seemes like a lot? there is no way to lower the dose of these because they looked capped?

i have heard better stuff about aromasin itself due to it actually binding better than arimidex, it is expensive but adc has it generic pretty cheap 30 tabs is about $35,

do u have link for roxanne phara? i googled it but did not see a way to buy it, or do u need a prescription only from them?

how often do u do blood work?

thanks

No link. That is just the generic brand that Walgreens carries where I got me scripts filled.

I do bloods every 3 months. I have done it more frequently this past 3 months tho b/c we were trying to address the E2 spikes.

oh ok, so what were the sides you were seeing with the e2 issues and arimidex?

thanks

E2 spikes - we couldn't find a dose schedule that would keep me in the lower end of normal of the E2 range.

We started with Mon/Thurs @ 1mg and that was enough to keep me from spiking up .5 mg every day kept my E2 too low. EOD didn't work either still had spikes.

and with the spikes did you notice your self looking more soft muscle wise, or where there def sides as far as the e2 was concerned, such as lethargy or mood issues or anything like that? or did you just see it in blood work?

I wasn't any softer and there were no noticeable side effects.

I use my blood work to assess my numbers. I like to have my numbers dialed in very specifically.

Over the long haul, I've learned for myself there are very narrow ranges in which I feel best.

cool thanks for this answer, as i am about to start with my stuff soon, maybe tomorrow! got aromasin on the way mainly due to the fact that everything i have read, and countless others ive spoken with have noticed anastozole, or arimidex, does not do well with them, not to say it will do bad with me but it does seem to me that people who have gone the aromasin route have faired better?
