Guys protein shakes are to supplement your protein intake not be the main source of it. Chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon and lean red meat are good sources of protein, a third or less of your protein should come from shakes

You can get all of the protien/carbs you need on less than $8 a day. Eggs, tuna and protien powder.
Eggs: $1.20 dozen. 2 meals.
Tuna: $ .60 a can. 1 meal.
Protien powder:$ .75 for 40gram shake.
If you have 2 protien shakes, 4 cans of tuna and 2 dozen eggs a day that is about 350 grams of protien. That comes out to about $6.30 a day on protien. Add in some cheap oats or rice and you come out to about $8.00 a day total. I bet if you went to Sams club you could get by on less.

If you have enough money to go to the movies or eat out then you have enough to spend on the necessary amounts of protien your body needs.

Two pounds of chicken will get you around 300g. That's what I eat. I drink around a gallon of milk a day which is easier for me in the cooler months.

If you are lactose intolerant, lactose free milk exists that has the same properties as regular milk, just missing the milk sugar that is oh so horrible to us lactose intolerant people.
