Blood pressure medication and general questions on blood pressure...

Hello,

I just want to take time and thank god for this forum including: Megatron, Halfwit, Austinite and countless others for their contribution. I still have lots to learn.

Background: I have never done any Test or AAS prior to this. I have been thinking I had low testosterone for a few years and then a little over a year ago I started researching (this site is a gold mine of info BTW). Finally went to doctor that I investigated that believed in test therapy my results 287 test total (lower than my 67 year old father!!) My doctor was willing to prescribe me exemestane and was willing to hcg (not now but, maybe later)... So, my current trt is 200mg wk in two shots Monday (100mg) and Friday (100mg), 25mg exmestane per week 6.25mg M/T Th/F. I get my blood hemoglobin tested often and my estadiol as well... I had back off exemestane 6.25mg a day as it crashed my e2 level under 12. I'm very much on top of my HCT (Hemotocrit) level and I have agreement from doc that if my donations are not effective enough he will write prescription for blood with-drawls. BTW Halfwits suggestion to donate platelets worked great as you can donate platelets every 10 days here... Dropped my hct by 2pct pts. 50 to 48 then I did a double red donation 10 days later and it went from 48 to 44.6 (three weeks after donation). My advice tell them you are about 10-20 lbs heavier as weight determines how much blood they pull-out.

I have always had borderline high BP but trt just bumped it a little more. I'm anywhere from 120/72 - 147/78. Usually end of day and is usually more elevated when I'm lifting and training harder (I know to cycle intensity).

Well I finally agreed to go on blood pressure meds and was started on Lisinopril 10mg and that helped a lot (my highs were 136/75) but, developed a cough so I was switched to Benicar 10mg.
BTW, I stopped my Cialis three month ago as it really did not lower BP and caused some minor headache.

Question: What blood pressure medication are yall on and is it working ok?

I am trying Citrulline malate @ 4g right now and was wondering if any of yall used this to help gym performance and/or blood pressure. I have read to go up to 9-10g.

Sorry I'm very wordy.

I take lisinopril. Works fine. No side effects except for the elevated creatinine which makes my numbers look high despite my kidneys being fine.

Sounds like you have been doing lots if reading! Glad to hear that you are doing well.

Lisinopril is for slightly high BP, Bystolic is a little bit stronger and acts slightly different. Your doctor may put you on both these medications. I would prefer Bystolic, but everybody's situation is different!

great thread.

as far as bp meds go how do they effect training?

do they make you feel tried?

I am not on any bp meds right now but I'm trying to learn what I can before I talk to my doc.

Bystolic looks a lot more expensive. Are there generics for it?

Not yet!

Side effects, no I haven't gotten any, everybody is different however!. The high BP symptoms went away and then your BP goes to normal and you feel fine. Just make sure with all BP meds to discontinue according to your Doctor, tapering is needed! Your HR/BP may go up significantly if they are stopped immediately.

Most common side effect is light headedness/fainting if you lower your BP too much. I have not had any problems with lisinopril.

I'm on Lisinopril at 10mg daily. When I'm blasting gear, I bump it up to 20mg and I'm fine. Had a dry cough a few times but that's about it.

No need to post google links for me big man. I was asking for your personal testimony...meaning YOU as an INDIVIDUAL on the matter.
If you don't want to answer the question....you didn't have to...no one had a gun to your head.

Again, I have had no issues with it myself. Here is what I said about Lisinopril earlier in the chain.

Bystolik 5mg/day. Works well for me, same effect on BP as 50mg/day Metoprolol. I was having trouble with fatigue trying to take metoprolol every night and working swing shifts. I'm also pretty sure it was causing me mild ED issues after taking it for a year. Switched to Bystolik and am very happy with it. It is more expensive but worth the extra $50 every 90 days for me. Next time gonna have Doc write me up for 10mg and cut them in half, they are the same price.
