Blood work question, free testosterone.

Hello,

I just had my test levels checked. They came back at 231 pmol/l. I am a 39 year old healthy male. Now the doc said this was normal but it was in the low end of the normal range. Can anyone offer some input on whether or not this is a normal measurement/average for someone my age?

Thanks

Welcome! normal testosterone levels for healthy men is around the range between 300 ng/dL and 1050 ng/dL. can you share your diet, cycle history if any, are you experiencing any low t symptoms? what did your doc suggest to do?

Hi, yes i am experiencing low T sypmtoms. My diet is very healthy, plenty of healthy fats, protein, and tons of vegetables. I also juice every day ( vegetable juice lol). I have a minimal cycle history. Ive ran 2 cycles of testosterone never going above 300 mg /week. My doc suggested nothing, he said my free T levels fell within the normal range which can be frustrating because those levels might not be normal for someone of my age.

Family docs will rarely treat low T. Better off with a TRT clinc if you really want treatment. Or you can try another family doc if you are trying to get insurance to pay for it.

Try to focus on the symptoms rather than the number. Something like I have brain fog, no interest in my wife, tired all the time, etc. Focus on quality of life.

Yea, roger that. I dont have alot of faith in GPs. Did a bit if searching and most of the charts put my free test levels normal, if i was 70. The 2 doctors i saw didnt even bat an eye at it.

I ended up going the clinic route and couldn't be happier. The doc is specialized in TRT and is up to date on all the latest treatment. He has no issue keeping my TT at 1200 (was previously at 190). Feel amazing now - and the muscle mass I put on has shocked everyone. You will pay a bit of $$ for a clinic but well worth it to me.

Only regret is not doing it sooner.
