the way i do them..which has really made my squat take off in only 10 weeks (natty too) is to use a wide stance..yes you can use whatever stance you want..
sit down onto the box keeping an arch and your abs tight and releasing the hips then push your abs out as well as your knees out to the sides and flex the hips/glutes..
youll need to sit and pause on the box ( it doesnt have to be a long pause) but DONT touch and go..if you do that your really free squatting and just using the box as a depth check which is fine but youll get much more benefit from doing a stricter box squat
Thier are some movies of them in the stickies. You release tension in your hips while keeping the rest of the body tight, while you are on the box. You are also only on the box for less than a second. Take a look at the clips, than ask some more questions.
