Bulking/Cardio

rome wasnt built in a day
Just wondering opinions.
Im just barely 5'9, 184lbs.

Around 10-12% body fat. All of which is in my midsection.

I am in the process of bulking but I'm going on a cruise this winter and dont want to be gaining much fat.

I know you really can't bulk and cut at the same time, but I was wondering if I lift to bulk earlier in the day, say around 11am and then do serious cardio at night, about an hr or 500-700 calories will I still gain any weight?

I dont mind losing some weight if it is fat, and I know trying to bulk is going to be more difficult but if I can continue to get stronger and slowly gain muscle while losing body fat that would be ideal.

Im not worried if it take me 10 times longer to do.

What are your thoughts or suggestions on this?

It is possibel to bulk whilst cutting, but very difficult to do so, that balance of calories consumed and spent has to be on the money accurate, you didnt say if you were on gear or not? try keep the protein high throughout the day and stick with high quality carbs like oatmeal, sweet potatoes, brown rice, wheat pasta. Try not consume any starchy carbs after 18h00. A supp like glutamine and creatine thrown in will aslo help you from going catabolic and will aid your weight workouts. dont forget to consume EFA's like fishoils or flax, this will greatly help the fat burning process along....Cardio is best done in the am before you consume any carbs ( i normally have a serving of pure whey and glutamine just before hitting the cardio, helps spare the muscle!)

hope some of this help!

That helped a lot, no I am not on anything.

I do take creatine and fishoils, Ill pick up some flax.

I'm at school so I only can make it in the gym from 11 on. But I have just started going twice, doing cardio one time and lifting the other.

If I have supper around 16-17hr, and then wait til around 20-21hr to do the cardio would that still be effective. That gives me 4-5hrs to try and digest food and make me hungry again.

good man, stay natural as long as u can! Well as said before, OPTIMAL fat burning is done in the am on a carb depleted state... second prize would be to do 15min HITT cadio immeditaly after your weight routine, as in this state your body is exhausted of glycogen and should target fat stores effectivly and keep your metabolism in turbo mode for a while after the workout. BUT dont do a long session of cardion after weight routine and you will become catabolic.....do this 3-4 times per week

cool

cutting and bulking at the same time would require your body to be in different nitrogen balances throughout the day.

diet and training would have to be spot on

Thanks Paisano3! alot of hard work there! Going back to FerrariF50's comment....correct, it is NOT easy, Nitrogen balance has to be "balanced" 100%...it may also come down to genetics if you are able to cut while adding size, in this regard i have been blessed.

happy training!
