The title says it all...Just been approved for 200MG a week test cyp from my Urologist and this was the first one I seen and was approved..I originally was getting 1 shot a month from my regualr doctor but that was waste so I went through IMT ( which I will stay with for other things now)and did great with them the past 3 months as I blasted at 420 week and since ended it so I was getting pretty scared on what to do knowing my own doctor didnt know what he was doing and dint want to go through post cycle therapy (pct) since I need to stay on..I needed to go to a urologist anyway so for shits and giggles I made an appt for this in mind, happen to have a younger Doctor, brought in my bloods etc and after some tests he put me on Test C 200MG a week....Pretty fing happy and finally glad I found a doctor that deals with this..he offered the pellets blah blah blah and I told him what I belive was best and he agreed....So...The script is ready to be picked up and bam..319.00 dollars for test Cyp 200MG 10ML from walgreens...WTF..?..My insurance needs a letter from the doctor saying it is medically needed than they will cover the script..In the mean time the bottle is sitting there waiting for me...do i just pay this now and deal later or wait for the letter so it can be coverd some...?..Also is this the correct price from them...It is watson..?

decison decisons...

That's insurance price. Cash price is MUCH lower. If Walgreens wants to rip you off, transfer it to CVS and print out a coupon from goodrx for 39 bucks for a 10ml vial. ;)

Halfwit I was waitng for your comment..thanks!....Actually dont know what the price will be once my insurance covers it once they the letter from the doctor, but 319.00 without the insurance does seem high as hell.

Yeah, it's pretty silly. It's like pharmacies' eyes light up when they see insurance coverage and they hit the big green GREEDY button. I've never paid more than 100 bucks for a vial from a pharmacy, but then again - my insurance doesn't cover it at all. Best of luck to you on getting it covered, mine says they will but keep running circles with the paperwork.

Congrats on finding a local doc MOE, wherever you go IMT will be here for you :)

Maybe even mention to him that you know some really great guys that pride themselves in their knowledge of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and they are ALWAYS looking for open minded doctors that would like to join the network :)

IMT guys I am not going anywhere, you helped me immensly to date and I am a loyal guy (from jersey bud) as there are other things I need to get from you as well so we are not done...:) ..And I will mention you guys to him if you would like with no problem at all and give him the run down...

Yea just called pharmacy cash it is 319.00 for 3 viles...I printed a coupon out like you said so 92.00 for one and will wait for the insurance to kick in and get the rest and also get reimbursed if they dont lose the paper work and jerk me off....thanks halfwit.

I always wondered what this stuff would run me if I were to lose my job and insurance.
Glad you're getting it straightened away.

.I needed to go to a urologist anyway so for shits and giggles I made an appt for this in mind, happen to have a younger Doctor, brought in my bloods etc and after some tests he put me on Test C 200MG a week...
Im not understanding something.
You went to the urologist and gave them your bloods??
Or did they SEND you for a blood test--then THAT showed you were low?
Im asking cause before I started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) my levels were at 264...and after a few weeks they shot up to 682.

I would love to find a doc to write me scripts so i can get it myself BUT if they test me NOW--the levels will be up.
Will they accept my ORIGINAL 264 labs?
Any ideas?
Cause I honestly think there HAS to be a doctor here in Las Vegas that write scrips with a 264 level.
Just gotta find him.
Suggestions?

Your right I got lucky, he was a young guy and new all about low t he was not an older who wasnt well versed in it.. I brought my blood work to him because I just got it done and this was suppose to be a consultation anyway, my levels were 1616 actually from June, but brought all the reults of my T in the last year and he seen how sporadic they were, they can read between the lines and he new I had the LOW T issue, he went over different protocols etc but we chose the injections..He just wants me to come back in 3 months with blood work to make sure we dont havew to tweak it..He alos said my estrigen was fine, so not doing anyhting but the injections right now..

Just call around urologist and ask if they treat low to so you dont waste your time...Nothing wrong with asking first, i did it here..

Well...
I Googled this exact phrase: "urologist Las Vegas low testosterone" and the very first site I found said they treat Low T.
I'm pretty sure they all do BUT I called and ask if they write scripts for Test. She said yes--and for me to bring all my recent bloodwork.
YIPPPPIE!
I can use my insurance! 20 bucks too see the doctor. Got an appt in 2 days at 930 am.
....1 hour after I get to pay $50 for my weekly injection of 160mg Cyp from the clinic.

Is there anything I should know....or SAY...when I see the doctor??
Any info anybody has will be helpful.

MOGREEN---good for you! Hope I have the same quality care you got.
Thanks for the good thread too.
And AS USUAL....halwit....chiming in dropping the knowledge.
Golden posts EVERY SINGLE TIME.:blue::blue:

If this office wont help me---I'll just keep going to every single one every week til I find one.
20 bucks to find out is worth it ....to me.

I was going to sign up with them.
What they offer and what you get are IMPOSSIBLE to NOT want to use their services.
However, I have yet to try the insurance route.
In order to justify my spending of that money on IMT, my wife is making me go this route first.

And I happen to agree because nothing would be as cheap as using insurance.

Ahhh, yeah - hard to argue with keeping the missus happy. Good luck either way! :)

I can share my experience with the insurance route. The short version is since Feb. 2013 it has cost me $2300.00 out of pocket going through insurance. This includes copays, prescriptions, labs & portions that insurance does not cover 100% of cost. That is a lot of money for 5 months & it seems the Dr. always finds some reason why he want's to set up another follow up appointment ie...when I just had my labs pulled he only checked my Vitamin D & Test. He stated that he I would like to see what my Free T is, so he scheduled me to come back in 4 more weeks & have another lab performed at $411.00 a pop to my insurance. My insurance has yet to cover 100% of anything. I can tell you my T Rx is $4.00. This is constant & expensive not to mention time away from work & the drive across town, looking for parking, debating with Dr & etc... This is my personal experience & it may not be a concern to others. I'm only sharing to help others possibly weigh their decision between insurance vs. IMT. This is only the surface. I'm certain that IMT is more knowledgeable & experienced concerning TRT. I can say I would be way a head in the race had I started with IMT from the start. Just my .02. I wish you the best of luck.

Everyone's insurance plan is different. I have a high deductible plan with and HSA for example. I pick up all the cost until I hit my high deductible after which everything is 100% covered. But I choose this plan because of the low monthly premium and the initial lump sum contribution my employer puts in at the beginning of the year.

Some people have plans where all they do is pay a $20 co-pay every time they go to the doc or hospital. But they often have a higher monthly premium.

My point is you need to look at the full picture when evaluating the coverage provided by insurance. But some people simply have shitty insurance coverage and it makes sense to go out of pocket for TRT. Other have "cadillac" plans.

Please don't launch a tirade on me. I am only talking about the cost of insurance vs. The benefit provided. I'm am not commenting on whether or not you want hypogonadism listed on your medical record or things like that. Just that you need to look at the total cost of insurance including premiums.
