Cant get to the gym..so how can i bring the gym to me?

People do...I don't.
Greetings to all,

Heres my situation. It suckz...but here it is. I've been out of the gym for awhile due to various reasons. And I wanna get back in it really bad. The only thing is I don't have the money right now. So you can say Im on a tight budget.

To make a long story short...Since i cant join a gym...I'v been planning on bying weights to use in my house. As of now the only weights I have and that i am using is a long bar with a couple of plates on it..so that i can do deadlifts, rows, and shrugs. So im guessing that takes care of back for now. And i also have a cambered bar for my biceps.

I dont have enough money for a real bench press machine...so i thought i'd invest in a regular flat bench that can turn into incline and decline as well.

My question is.....Is there anything other piece of equipment i can buy for now, so that i can have a half-way decent workout in my own home? I'd like to stick with simple..multi-joint...old school workouts being that i beleive they are more effective in putting on mass.

Any input would be greatly appreciated,
Thanx :dance2:

Go to youre regular gym and tell them about youre situation and they might let you pay in a couple of months.

You can never (if you dont have 100 000$ lying around) get the same workout at home as at the gym.

bands and a sled, pullingbig has a great routine posted on the "do deadlifts thicken waist" page 6.....He knows his stuff so with force feeding and high protien diet you will gain some nice size.

take care

$1,000 on a home gym can get you a very nice setup: a powerrack, benchpress, olympic bar with weights, and bands.

focus on the core three-dead,bench,squat. get a setup that you can do these with and youll be ahead of the pack. i'd also include body wieght training ,ie: push up variations, sit up variations, pull ups, body wieght squats, bw lunges -etc. these can fill in the blanks when you dont have the equiptment.
yeah, and a good welder can make a half rack for cheap.

you need a power rack for your home gym.for the price of a rack though you can join a gym so that don't help.i would ask if you could go month to month most gyms do.

I hate gym contracts, but on the plus side, the contracts allow others to pay for the equipment for us; the ones that actually show up.

Well with far from enough weights.... And still he wont be getting what he would have in a gym.
If he's been a member at a gym for some years I see no problem why they would'nt let him train for a few months and pay later....

Hey.

Thanks alot guys for all the suggestions. I'll definatly take them into consideration.

Like i said...cash is tight. So I might have to invest in a 3-way bench. Yano something simple..and cheaper than a Power Rack.

At least I'll have someplace to lay if i wanna do close-grip bench press with my cambered bar.

I'm also gonna look into Paying monthly with my old gym just for the hell of it.

btw...I forgot to mention that i also have an dipping rack...( dips, pull-ups, and abs) so thats almost half the battle.

Thanks again!!

$99-$109 can get you an Olympic bar + weights=300 lbs. That is enough weight for most beginners to get started. But yeah, as you grow, you need more weight.

I'm not saying that the gym isn't better. I'm just saying that if you have the space at home and you've got $1,000, then you've got enough to get a decent setup at home. All of the equipment that I use combined doesn't cost near the $100,000 you mentioned, and I am fortunate enough to have access to a monolift, kilo plates, Sorinex bench, GHR, reverse hyper, chains, bands .... come to think of it, all that stuff isn't even owned by the gym. It is owned by Kyle Robertson and pullinbig and the gym lets them keep their equipment at the gym.

But the gym brings in the pretty girls. I've got a pretty girl at home, but she costs a hell of a lost more than the $100,000 you mentioned. :D
