Carbofuel on bulk cant get enough calories without it

Is it ok to drink 2x carbodrinks a day to reach he calorie + on bulk? i drink 1 shake during workout 500-600 calories and 1 post workout 500-600 calories mixed with protein powder so i get like 1000 calories from shake each day is this bad?

Real food is always better! I won't lie, I use a shake every now and then on a busy day if I have to fill the gap, but it's not the norm. Wake up on the morning and start eating... No excuses for not getting macros in, it takes planning and work!
 
Why not just get your calories from REAL FOOD? whats your exact diet at the moment including macro's? What calorie intake and macro split are you aiming for?
 
i have no idea what macro means im not english speaking but my diet looks like this:

Meal 1) 1 bowl of oatmeal, 1 banana, 1 spoon olive oil, 1 shake with 67 g carbs and 40gprotein

Preworkout: 1 cup espresso

During workout: 1 shake carbo 134g carb

Post workout: 1 shake carbo 134carb + 60g protein, 2 bananas

Meal 2) 400g meat with spaghetti/pasta Not sure what u call the meat in english but u can form the meat and do anything u want with it.

Meal 3) 400g chickenmeat with some rice or tomato beans

Meal 4) Tuna in a box

Meal 5) Cottage cheese and some bread, 1 spoon olive oil
 
Macro is the general word used to describe grams of carbs, protein and fat. Eat more, get you Carb and protein macros from food, not shakes.

Carbs, fat, and protein actually are macros. "Macro" does not describe a specific amount of them. So when someone asks "what do your macros look like?" they are essentially asking how many grams of each macronutrient (p/f/c) are you taking in per day. I know you understand the gist of it, your wording was just a little off.

Pretty much. I have no idea what a "carbo shake" is, I speak English. However, my guess is it's a bunch of empty carbs that are just taking up calories when you could actually be fueling your body. Your diet doesn't look completely horrible, but it could use some work for sure. At the very least you should be tracking calories and understand what macros are. You should head over to 3J's free advice thread and ask him for help. He's much more knowledgeable about nutrition than I am and will probably be able to explain things to you in an easier way to understand.

And yes Tomatoe, to a certain degree shakes are a bit like junkfood IMHO... While they contain the macros required to grow, that's literally about it. Real, unprocessed food contains better overall nutritional value. If I have some time later on a real computer I'll try to pull up some factual information about that, unless someone wants to jump in and do that now. (By all means!)

hmm so im drinkg empty calories thats not good.. but its really hard to get all that carb thorughout the day i work alot and dont have time to eat all the time
 
Basically the issue with shakes and processed foods is the ingredient list. Does it have X amount of carbs? Yes, of course... but where do those carbs come from? Mostly refined sugars. Quick, empty carbs with no real nutritional value. As OC said, it's basically just a filler to get your calories in for the day, and should only be used as that... not as a staple to your diet. For example, if you're going on a road trip and didn't have time to eat breakfast then sure, that would be an excuse to use one of your shakes. You could easily replace one of those shakes with a million other things to get the same baseline values from whole food sources. It's hard to play with numbers when you don't know them though, which is why it's essential to track calories and macros.

There, that is my 100% unscientific layman's explanation for dummies. I am also at work and about to leave for lunch.

Oatmeal, potatoes, rice, cereal, granola, corn, vegetables, milk and dairy, bread, quinoa, sweet potatoes, nuts, any grains etc
