chest total sets

how many total sets for chest? i've been doing 3 sets of db incline, db flat and db flyes for 9 total. Do i need to do a flat press to fully develop my chest b/c flat and decline aggrevate my shoulders somewhat.

everyone is different but i do almost the exact routine you do except i dropped flyes along time ago and now do WEIGHTED DIPS which are MUCH better. either way it depends on the person (genetics, recovery, diet, etc) but thats all ive done in the past and always grow from it. my chest is one of my best parts. just be sure to always fight for the extra poundage in the gym (increase strength on it)

Today I did chest .. about 25 sets, each isolating different areas - top, mid, low, side and center. Final sets must be a burn out to pump as much blood as possible into the muscles. My man-tits probably weigh 10 pounds each -chest is possibly my best developed area.

But that is me. After 15 years of training, if I only did 9 heavy sets, my chest would be ready to go again in only 3 days - and certainly would not grow.

there's really only two parts to the chest. pec major (upper) and pec minor (lower). after years of doing just incline db and flat db with incline db flyes (now weighted dips) my chest is fully developed. upper, mid (whatever that is), low, side, middle, upper outer corner, lower outer corner, inside corner, lol. i dont think you need 25 sets but you know your body better than i do.

the dips put a lot of stress on my shoulders. I have a friend who one state and all he did was high and low incline bench or dumbbells. No flat or decline

You sound like a rookie. I guess the term "hitting the muscle from all angles" doesn't make any sense to you. Of course there are two muscle components in the pecs (major and minor), but you do not trigger all the fast and slow twitch fibers of the ENTIRE chest through basic exercises - and certainly not through 9 sets.

Keep pumping, you'll learn.

Not everyone's chest can grow like yours.

25 sets sounds like alot. How long does it take you guys that do this to complete your chest workout? Depending on how I feel, I do from 9 to 15 sets max. I also train chest every 4th day.
