I found this info today.......I like ala 900mg daily, but could be a good idea try something different

"Cinnamon extracts boost insulin sensitivity"(Agricultural Research,
2000)
"Cinnamon daily could significantly reduce the risk factors for
diabetes and cardiovascular disease in people with type 2 diabetets"
It seems everywhere we turn these days, Cinnamon is making headlines.
This once fairly spice is now regarded as a potential treatment in
disorders of glucose control and heart disease.
A new study just released in Diabetes Care shows tremendous promise for
the treatment of type II diabetes. Those treated with Cinnamon for a
period of 40 days showed decreases in fasting glucose between 18 and 29%,
cholerterol 12 to 26% and decreases in triglycerides 23-30%. The
researchers added however, that they do not yet have data on safety or
potential toxic build-up from consistently ingesting table Cinnamon and that
water extracts contain the active compounds and are less likely to be
toxic in large doses compared to whole Cinnamon. (Khan, A, et al.
Diabetes Care 26:3215-3218, 2003)
Furthermore, a study by Broadhurst et al., has demonstrated that
Cinnamon is a strong potentiator of insulin. (J. Agric. Food Chem.
48:849-852, 2000). One particular extract of Cinnamon including methyl hydroxy
chalcone polymer (MHCP) shows promising data in the area of glucose
control. (Jarvill-Taylor, KJ, et al.J. Am. College Nutr.20:327-336, 2001).
The results from this study demonstrate that MHCP treatment stimulated
glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis to a similar level as insulin.
Additionally, bioactive compound(s) upstream of PI 3'-kinase. Enzyme
studies done in vitro show that the bioactive compound(s) can stimulate
autophosphorylation of a truncated form of the insulin receptor and can
inhibit PTP-1, a rat homolog of a tryosine phosphatase (PTP-1B) that
inactivates the insulin receptor. No inhibition was found with alkaline
phosphate or calcineurin suggesting that the active material is not a
general phosphatase inhibitior. It is suggested, then, that a a Cinnamo!
n compound(s), like insulin, affects protein
phosphory-lation-dephosphorylation reactions in the intact adipocyte. (Imparl-Radosevich, J, Horm
Res. 50:177-182, 1998). Cinnamon is listed as GRAS status. Acute oral
toxicity of Cinnamon extracts determined that the LD50 for the extract
was greater than that of 5,000mg/kg.
Integrity Nutraceuticals International is proud to announce the
formation of two key partnerships that will be vital to bringing truly safe
efficacious Cinnamon extracts to the masses.
The first arrangement involves Nancy Cheng, MD, Ph.D. Integrity has
formed a strategic partnership together with Dr.Cheng to market her
patented Water Extract of Cinnamon (US PATENT # 6,200,569). This unique
extraction method keeps all the actives but get rids of toxins that are
found in whole Cinnamon.
Additionally, Intergrity has formed an exclusive relationship with the
USDA to further the body of knowledge on Cinnamon. This Creative
Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) had been put into effect to
formulate an effective testing mehtod for Cinnamon extracts. Currently all
materials are being verified via HPLC and Bioavailability by Epididymal
Fat Cell Assay etc., to show biological activity.
