Cold cuts?

If I eat cliced "cold cut" turkey from the deli every day, 3 times a day, is that healthy? I mean, do cold cuts have additives and crap in them?

Thanks. It just tastes sooo much better than normal turkey.

lol, what do you say at the deli, give me some generic turkey? Maybe I shop somewhere really different but I have like 9 choices of brands for turkey, each with a different price/lb. Sarah Lee is a good bang for your buck brand.

Alot of sodium and fats in lunch meats .....lean turkey slices or chicken would be your best bet

Ditto.

There is alot of sodium in cold cuts, and there are definitely better alternatives. Eating it occasionally won't kill you, but I would not use it as a main source of protein on a regular basis.

Its not just the fat and sodium, the manufacturer also adds in Sodium nitrites to help preserve the meat. These nitrites increase free radicals in our blood, which tend to destroy muscle tissue. These compounds are added to more things than you know, so look at the label, because most processed meats have this added.

I agree that eating it every so often is fine, but not everyday.

I would agree with Therm.

It's the sad truth, but that fact seems to be, that if it taste good, then it's probably not that good for you.

maybe some day we'll come up with healthy foods that taste better then it's processed counterpart.

good post alltogether, what are some other foods that most people think are good for you, but are really bad??
