Well, here's the deal. For the past 3-4 days, when I go to a standing position from a seated one and vice versa, I've been getting little mini-cramps in my hip adductors (groin region) and occasionally the vastus medialis obliques right above my knees. Well, I didn't think anything about this, but tonight was leg night. Went in, did squats fine (315, 5x5 box squats). On my last set of squats, I started getting a cramp in my abdominal region, one in my left pec, and another in my right hand. Gutted it out and finished the set, nothing major.
Then, I went on to lunges (2 sets only). After about 5 reps, my right calf completely locked when I plantar flexed and pushed off to come up out of the lung. Didn't think anything of it again, and continued, but by the time I finished my 6th rep (each side), my right anterior delt had cramped up, along with my middle toe of the left foot (actually in the metatarsal/phalangeal joint). Second set, both forearms cramped, both calves locked (at different times - nearly fell twice because they jerked into plantar flexed lockout and dragged my toes on the ground), and my right middle finger was locked in a cramped position.
Went on to straight leg deads, and I was only able to get 2 sets (planning on 5) because every time I took the weight down, both calves cramped (i'm talking HURT, and i have a very high pain tolerance), and every time I came up, I'd get a cramp in different positions in my upper body. Calf raises, leg curls, and cardio were out of the question at this point, so I just took it to the house.
Thought it might be sodium/potassium problem, b/c I played golf this afternoon and figured I might still have the electrolyte imbalance from being somewhat dehydrated even though I'd had almost a gallon of water before the workout. Came back to my dorm and mixed up some gatorade with the consistency of aunt jemima's, thinking that would help to rehydrate me if that was the problem, but it hasn't.
Almost every time I contract a muscle for more than just an instant, I get cramps in the muscle. Calves are the worst still - every time I plantar flex, my gastrocs cramp......Hell, I WAS going out tonight like a normal college kid, but this is just too painful. I mean, I'm sitting here typing at the computer and having to fight cramps in my fingers and forearms every couple of seconds.
Any ideas???? I mean, this is something I SHOULD know the answer to, but I can't come up with anything.
---BTW, I did start some liquid clen today (took it when I woke up, 14 hours before the workout and the cramps started), and that generally causes me cramps, but not before the 3rd or 4th day of the stuff, and NEVER on weights - just when i'm trying to ride an exercise bike or something. Same batch of clen, relatively same physical conditions that I took it under last time, so, although that might have made the cramps worse, I don't see it being the sole culprit here.
