Cross Fit or Mixed Martial Arts

crossfit would be better for overall body and cardio workout.. its simply made that way.. mma is an overall body and cardio workout.. but we dont use weights in jiu jitsu and mma.. in jiu jitsu your partners weight is the weight your have to resist against..

but on the other side mma gives you something crossfit cannot.. skills

Agree with 3J but only if the Crossfit is done wisely. There's a lot of BS in mainstream Crossfit and it can very easily lead to injury if you're not careful. When done correctly it does give the body a great conditioning workout though. MMA is another great workout but not done with weights. It does teach you some important skills though.

I figured if I still incorporate weight training along with mma it will balance out so I'd be training 2x daily but with cross fit it'll be one training session a day....I also figured with mma I'll be using muscles that wouldn't normally be constantly trained

Side note; your last sentence got me thinking about napoleon dynamite lolz

Maybe this isn't the place to rant, but I don't like crossfit. It isn't that I cant see the reasoning behind doing it, I can. Admittedly, I don't necessarily like mixing ALL of my cardio and weights into the entire workout, but it does have its upside. I think the reason I cant stand it is because its trendy.

I hate trendy sh*t. Whether it is a new word (my kids were just broken from saying everything "is so beast." Beast is a noun, not an adjective/adverb), sunglasses (with blinds on them? Stupid as hell), or anything you picked up on TV (P90x anyone?). Following trends can be good, but it can also be a sign of spinelessness. Being led by commercials...ridiculous. Crossfit....$100 per month to do a workout that is literally born out of your own back yard is a key indicator of being sold a marketing campaign. Its like those women who pay extra to be bathed in purified bat guano, or the fool that makes his coffee from beans that were aged in manure. I cant stand it.

Crossfit is probably a better all-around workout, but I'm gonna go ahead and agree with Joliver--its seems like its chock full of trendy insufferable yuppie fucks. Just go for a run/bike ride/ do HIIT on your non-lifting days.

MMA no question. Fighters in general are some of the most conditioned(and skilled) athletes in sports. My boxing, muay thai and bjj training was like nothing else. Crossfit is great too. MMA is more useful and in my opinion, more fun.

lmfao, yuppies :)
