JDMO, Thank you for your comment! I, like everyone who does crossfit used to at one time BB, powerlift, something! When I did my first crossfit WOD it changed my life. At the time I was a certified personal trainer with almost 8 years in the Navy. I always got at least an outstanding low on my physical fitness assesment, and I had successfully finished the Marine Corps Marathon the year prior with a 3hr 50min time (not to bad for 5'11" 200lb frame). After I was done with the WOD "fight gone bad" (which was designed for BJ Penn) I thought to myself, I never knew how out of shape I was! The beauty of crossfit is that it tailors to anyone. Look on the website, they have Crossfit football for huge dudes, they have crossfit for kids, for moms, crossfit everything! And as said, the athlete that wins the Crossfit games is the "FITTEST ATHLETE" in the WORLD!

Lots of talk no real nitty gritty. Get into examples. This sounds very interesting. I not bodybuilding anymore. My body couldn't take the weight anymore. I training to do triathlon sprints. I prefer more endurance work. I'm still way to heavy. I need to lose 20 pounds still. keeping strength is important to me.

Ignoramus

so a 13 year old girl could put together a routine and market it and you wouldn't have to know the creator?

Rippetoe has said some outlandish stuff. He is the supposed "Deadlift expert" yet he only has one athlete who has pulled 600. he has also made the aforementioned claims. Cmon now I know that degree has taught you something, hopefully.

Dude are you friggin serious? Most elite level MMA fighters, including BJ Penn and Fedor use Crossfit and similar routines.... You really have not a friggin clue what you're talking about do you? Coach Glassman founded crossfit. Rippetoe is a completely different person. Crossfit is all about functional movements that develop strength for everyday movements and combat movements such as humping a 110 pound back across 30 miles of rough terrain, faster. For MMA fighters, it's about building more power behind that kick or punch. It is great for getting one into shape and for elite athletes to test themselves. However, I do think the crossfit methodology needs to put more emphasis on cardio and long distance endurance like running and swimming.
