i am always paranoid about my form here. so it's okay if my SHOULDERS roll forward because of the weight, but it's NOT okay if my BACK bends, right?

My shoulders come forward. I try very hard to keep them all in line but it doesn't happen.

That said, From your hips up, back in line.Your shoulders aren't the target of this movement.

Im not exactly sure what you mean..you do not want your back rounded rather keep a tight arch..shoulders rolling forward will lead to a rounded back..make sure to keep your head up and think of pulling up and back

there any pictures, link, or diagrams that show correct dead lift form?

Okay. I didn't describe what I meant correctly so I'll try to do that now.

On a straight legged dead: I concentrate on keeping everything in line. Perfectly straight from the shoulders on back through my hips.

On a regular dead: It's a different feeling. Perfectly straight back and form but my shoulder muscles aren't into play. They just hang until I'm at the top of the movement and then I roll them back hard.

I may not be describing this so you get what I'm saying. Or maybe I just misunderstood GA's question.

If your back starts to round, you are done with that set, roll your shoulders back at the end of the movement, that means at the top...

Spent the morning on the toilet but downed some Pepto and a few bites of Oatmeal...and had a pretty sucky workout this morning. Took some vids and pics of me deadlifting (after box squats) anyway.

My form isn't perfect...but it was a semi-heavy weight for me. I'll get the double soon.

good stuff B
Take a look at his first pic..i know he's merely getting into the zone here but if you look at the shoulders see how they are rolled forward? look at his back as well its rounded..

then pic 2 hes ready to pull shoulders and back are flat thats the position you want to be in..

Thanks...

What I do before I pull is get down into position then straighten my leggs. This allows me to do a few things:

1) Get several breaths and make sure that my belly is full of air
2) Make sure that I'm "long arming" the bar when I pull it.
3) Gives me "speed" like a "springboard" for when I pull.

I really want 730+ soon.

very nice. is that 695? hard to tell in the pic.

how much you weigh bro?

just a side note for the other pullers on the board. if youll notice Bs back at the starting postion and then again when the bar is approaching his knees. his back has not dropped any (still the same angle from the floor). it is still locked in. what does this mean? that he used his quads to ge the bar that high. this saves the back and hams for lockout. if you can get the bar to your knees using the quads you got the lift whooped. nice pics B.

if youll email me the clip ill post it in the training video section.

It is 691 with an old bent Texas Power Bar...lol.

Right now I'm around 280 or so. No telling what I was on that pull...after spending all morning on the tiolet. I'll get it for 2, easy, here in a month or two... I tore my left hamstring in December and retore it at a contest (that I was forced to compete in) in February. I"m slowly working back up. For the next several weeks I'll pull singles in the 500-600 range after doing some crazy heavy box squats. This should help strengthen my erectors more and get me ready for a BIG pull soon.

I'll find the link to the vid, it is on my site: www.clintdarden.com

i like that hand shake apparatus you got. very nice. i rember johnny used to pass two 45lb plates around his body. pinching them to gether wiht his thumb and fingers. lips out of course. still tough.

nice looking web site bro. post some of your training routines here. heavy weight stimulates muscle growth like nothing else.
