deads...legs

Deads like squats have the benefit of being an overall body exercise--primarily legs, butt and lower back but the benefits to your metabolism are what deads do best.

I use to just all out pull, ass out and high. I found that trying to flare out my lat's when lowering the pull helps my overall back thickness. I still think that DL's are an overall body mass exercise that's why it's my favorite. My ham's rarely get sore.

Why is this? I pull standard Romanian style feet about shoulder width? I also try to break the pull with pressing with my quads hard to explain but if you keep high up on the bar and ass out it's easy.

Legs are used primarily at the start of the deadlift, but the balance all depends on your style.
