I have a few questions:
1 I am 6'2" 260 lbs with most of my weight around my stomach, Is weight loss harder with this physique or is it all the same?
2 Where do you draw the line at trying to build muscle and lose weight? Is it better to take more calories or less and not gain muscle?

I am new to this site and working out

This is the question each of us has to answer for ourselves. There are alot of factors that go into determining whether or not this person loses fat easier than the next. Things like age, body type, and genetics play huge roles in determining how hard it is to lose bf.

People say that you can't gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, but that's not true. Like all other compromises, it is not optimal for either situation,. but you can do both at once.

Typically, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn while doing cardio. The additional muscle needs more calories...plain and simple.

You can work your diet so that you are eating the right foods to build muscle, and at the same time you can be burning fat. The foods you eat and the timing of those foods can actually make you burn more fat.

Cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach does wonders for the ole belly.
Getting more frequent meals with smaller portions which focus on protein and low GI carbs or protein and good fats will certainly help too.

Lots of info for you to assimilate here, so take your time and read. Ask any questions that you might have.

Good luck.

1. at this point, being an untrained noob with a higher bodyfat %, most, if not all, of your weight loss will be from fat.

2. once again, being an untrained noob, you can also build muscle while losing fat. your body is primed for both situations. once your body becomes accustomed to training, and your bf starts falling lower is when the compromise starts.

id recommend cleaning up your diet, start some sort of weight training 3 times a week, and going for a brisk walk/jog around the neighborhood or on a treadmill/elliptical/stationary bike a few times a week. Getting rid of the burgers and sodas alone will do wonders for the belly, add to that weights and cardio and youre golden.
