Do you really need Clen/similar to get extremely lean?

Im always wondering if using stuff like Clen or T3 would be really necessary to get very ripped without losing too much muscle mass.
Can't you do it with just diet and exercise? (and maybe some aas to help and keep the muscles while cutting)
How lean can you get without taking anything?
 
Getting to single digit body fat % is really hard for men without AAS. It becomes difficult to not lose muscle mass as you lose weight.
 
I can speak from watching a friend of mine this summer. He is running his usual cycle of test/deca and he is also doing anavar and t3 and clen. He looks very lean and is jacked. He also pretty much eats whenever he wants and makes sure he feels full and he cheats all the time and eats junk. When I say all the time Im talking once or twice a week, which is alot considering he is 46 yrs old. Of course he trains hard and does plenty of cardio and he is an animal.

I dont agree with how he eats at all. But his mindset is that at his age he wants to also have fun and enjoy food. But he swears that the t3 and clen are so good that he can eat like how he does and get away with it. Of course we all know this is not the proper way to do things.
Proper is to eat really tight and no cheating and count macros (which he does not) and get yourself down in BF until you are stuck there....THEN you add in thet3 and clen.
Basically what Mega has said. You can diet proper and train proper down to say 12-15 % BF and then use the drugs to bring you into single digits.
 
I wont say you need clen/t3 and so on (but they can sure help). As has been said however, to get lean and maintain muscle mass aas becomes almost a requirement if the muscle mass is significant.
