I did, the thing about Amazon and eBay is that most of the "normal" (read affordable) stuff you find on there all comes from China.
Page after page I'm looking at the same chit.

I want to get my girl a necklace pendant, specifically a nice sterling silver owl but the ones I'm seeing on there look creepy at best.

Oh trust me, I know. I do a lot of shopping on Amazon, but I try to stay away from their clothes. There's really nice looking stuff on there for cheap. I bought a blazer on there once for like $20, which happened to come from china. I bought a large thinking it would fit and I could get it tailored if needed................. it was like a fucking extra small. I went back and looked at the sizing chart for the company, and all the sizes were like 2-3x smaller than US sizes. If I buy stuff on there, I stick to brands I know.
