Does anyone do full body routines while cycling?

Ive read a few book on muscle building and some articles on different websites. Most of them really advocate full body routines. They list their advantages as more reps per bodypart per week, better recovery time, etc..

So for the past 6 months or so I have switched from my traditional split routine that ive been doing for years to full body circuits. I do 1 set of an exercise(12 reps) and move right on to the next one as quick as possible to minimize rest. I do this so its almost like cardio and I can get an added fat burn. After I finish the circuit I go through it again. Takes about an hour.
I do this three days a week. It has worked pretty well in making me more toned and I am happy with it.

However, I do not ever see anyone at the gym doing this kind of workout, even though I constantly read about the advantages of it.

Do full body workouts lack the benefit of building size? To fully take advantage of the test e should I go back to targeting specific muscle groups 5 days a week?

I only train total body ... and I'll repeat this over and over: it wasn't until I got my nutritional levels and caloric intake finely tuned that I started seeing results, independent of whatever training routine I happened to be on.

As long I lift with intensity and periodization, I know that aspect is always covered.

This is totally growth stunting if your looking to build muscle. IT takes time to grow and repair the damage you do to he muscle when you work out.
Isolating and focusing on 1 muscle group a day is best from growth.

Keep in mind different sports have different training needs.

I'm training for hockey now. Full body workouts are the rule of the day. I'm not looking for size. I training for endurance.

One of the advantages Ive been reading about full body workouts is that you get the best rest out of them. Since you are taking 24-48 hours where you do no weight training at all.

I have no problem building muscle with total body training.

I train total body at certain times of the year and actually prefer it. My rest is shorter between sets and I don't overtrain.
The best part is that if and when u miss a workout......no worries !! You've hit that bodypart already once or twice and besides the extra rest can do good.
I've given up on the 5 day /week , seperate bodypart per day. Very little gains and left me prone to overtraining.

Bottom line- stick to what works best for YOU ! Mix up your tempo or exercises, but stay within the parametres of the basic routine.
Just 'cause it worked for Arnold or Dorian........doesn't mean it'll work for you.!!
