Does this look right

by switching your elbow/arm position in the movement you target different muscles .
try a set witb a fairly heavy weight with the elbow pointing away from the body and thumb pointing towards the body , then bring the db up keeping the elbow at or slightly above shoulder height . now try a conventional db row keeping the elbow pulled tight and pulled back and toward the waist level . the difference is pretty dramatic .

Me neither. They never felt "right" whenever I did them. Not sure why, but barbell and t-bar rows have always felt better to me.
 
i completely agree, i could never tell which way to pull, close to the body, far away...so i just said screw it and did exactly what you did.
