fast digesting and slow digesting proteins.

i have a question, lets say i am eating something like chicken steak or bison meat that digests and gets broken down slowly. Would it work if i was to also drink a whey protein shake at the same time. I was thinking maybe the whey would get digested and used much faster and then the meat would be in the system for much longer? is this a stupid idea.
 
pure whey takes a matter of minutes to start and about two hours to finish putting amino acids into the blood. Don't know how long chicken takes, but casein lasts for 7 hours. I would suggest the whey for pre/post workout when the body needs it quickly, and get the rest of you protein from food and casein.
