Hello Everybody:

I hope I am not breaking protocol by posting a question just after signing up. If i am, sorry, please tell me what to do to correct any lack of etiquette.

I assume you have heard this before from many men in their fifties, I just don´t have the drive I used to have. Went to the doc, got my panels, my T level is 400, and he said "You are low but OK". My Blood glucose was a bit high and he gave me metformin, (which was like hitting me with a club), I feel worse now.
So, do I just try to "man up" expecting things will get better ? or should I look for another MD, I really feel like crap constantly and becoming very sensitive (I weep in movies, etc.) which didn´t happen 5 years ago.
I can still have intercourse, but I "lose it" often.

Maybe 400 is "not that low", I really don´t know.

Any input will be welcome, and sorry if the question is dumb, but i really don´t feel like going back to that doc.

Thanks in advance.

No problem about starting a post right off the bat! Man, find yourself an MD who wont push pills down your throat to make you feel better. a real doc will find the root cause and fix it from there.
Go tu Cuba.
Please share your panel results here so we can see what your levels are. LH, FSH, E2, Ft, TT, etc.
also share your stats, weight, height, age, bf%, any cycle history? are you on any meds?

Also, he prescribed Metformin, 2 pills a day (at 1.000 mg each). (I am taking this one)
And Lorexan (Lorcasein), which I am not taking because the side effects are memory loss, and they are bad.

OK, thanks in advance.

Before leaving this doctor have you sat down and explained in detail what is going on?

I've been on metformim for a long time and haven't had any sides like that.

Now what you have described is listed as possible side effects. Maybe look for another doc but at the same time talk to him if you haven't.

OMM

PS:... I take 1000 mg twice a day also.

Thanks oldmusclemike, the problem is I went to see the doc because I felt crappy, and things didn´t change after his treatment, I didn´t feel any worse, just the same, so I am not blaming the metformin side effects, well... Anyway, you guys have a lot more experience in this, maybe it is just a matter of time.

Was looking at your Bloodwork, I could make out some.

Noticed your Estradiol was 27.5 Pg/ml.

If you are in your 50's, your Beta-17 Estradiol is High.
It should be around 22.1 Pg/ml.
So this is most likely why you are Feeling so Emotional.

I would bring this to the attention of your Doctor.
If he says it's OK ~ find another Doctor........................ JP

Crazy that he would give you metformin and not just tell you to work out and eat low carb. If you are pre-diabetes or diabetic you need to learn about eating low carb, not take drugs to help mask an incorrect diet.

And what is lorexan? Only comes up in Spanish, no English search results.

How old are you?

? ... 17pg/ml is good in range!
You can't state absolute one level for people.
20-40 is relative normal and you are in the good middle. So I don't think, E2 is a problem.
400 level of T is also very ok!

Would think, you should search other reasons...
