first cycle

hello people i am 22 years old. i've been weight training since 14 years old. i've been at 90% or above for the last 3 years in regards to eating, sleeping, and training properly.

i only plan to use an extremely mild, and controlled testosterone cycle for an 8-12 week period (something like 100-200mg/week to be honest with you. i'm really trying to be very very mild here). I am not looking for a 10-20lb gain, but something like a 5-8lb increase in lean muscle mass. over that time frame. i only plan to do this once in my life, because i'd like to make only a mild jump in my physique without bulking heavily and gaining a lot of body fat.

so i have a few issues:
1. with an extremely mild dose of test (somewhere along the lines of 100mg/week, is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and a SERM like clomid or nolva necessary? I do not like the idea of putting these substances in my body, and fear the consequences..
2. if i were to see the doctor and get a prescription for test, would they be employing the same modalities as most forum users recommend? as far as using SERMS and HCG?

1. No reason to shut down your own natural test production with such a small dose. If all you want is a tiny increase in lean body mass, and to never cycle again......than i would suggest not cycling at all and instead working on your diet. However, even with that low dose, you will need a proper pct with a serm such as clomid/nolvadex.

2. The only way you will get a doctor to prescribe testosterone is if you have low natural testosterone from a blood test....which i doubt you have at 22. And even if you did have low t and the doc prescribed you test....it would be for life.

22 is a young age to think you've totally hit your peak, I suggest you post up your stats: height, weight, bf%, best lifts, as well an idea of what your daily nutrition looks like. In general though, aas is really not something that is used once and never again imo. Any gains you acheive on cycle that were made due to the increase in hormones will eventually be lost. It's just a matter of time really.

I agree with everything he said, on point with everything.

I just have to ask why do you think that everything gained on a cycle would be eventually lost (well, eventually, everyone loses muscle), but your post made it sound as if you can lose everything in a year or two. I know what you're trying to say, a lot of people want to use test, bulk up, and never use it again and hope to keep that size (and generally people who do that, often times want to obtain a body that is possible naturally). But I'm curious, because imo, if correct nutrition, training is kept up after the cycle (of course you'll loose a few when your hormones equal out and return to normal) but to lose it all?

I think the standard 500mg first cycle advice might be a bit overkill for some people, but 100-200 for 8-12 weeks isn't going to do shit unless you're doing it for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or a cruise

350 is about the lowest dose you should go. ANything less is near testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) which will not give much gains. Depending on your overall testosterone levels.

Let me clarify a bit about my stats:

5'10"
188lb @ 7.5%
1RM's
squat: 465x1
bench: 290x1
dead: 555x1

i'm a strong puller and squatter. Bench is a bit difficult for me as i have long arms.

As far as nutrition is concerned:

i follow a 6low1high schedule
low: 300p/300c/70f
high: 300p/575c/70f

Let me clarify about what you're not listening to:

Long-estered test 500mg p/w for 12 weeks
PCT

PROBLEM SOLVED MOTHER FUCKER!!! :)

And don't give me this I've got long arms I can't bench bullshit. I competed in pro bench comps and I've got arms like a fucking chimpanzee.

my question here is in regards to how well i'd maintain the muscle and strength gains if i were to cycle test for 8-12 weeks. I've very disciplined with my training and nutrition. I have not missed a single workout since february of 2010 and counting...

hypothetically; if i were to gain about 12 lbs of muscle at the end of the cycle...6 months down the road how much of this muscle would i retain (granted of course i stay dedicated with my eating/sleeping/training?

You can keep most of the gains if you keep your diet up and really have a full and detailed post cycle therapy (pct). But beyond that, at 22, you most likely have more test in your body right now than 100-200mgs a week. So, you probably wouldn't make any gains, or at least not much, so you wouldn't have to worry about keeping them.

How much you keep off cycle varies. Going off of what you've said it seems that you're quite dedicated, so you can probably keep the majority of your gains. Just remember it's painfully easy to lose them if you screw up with diet/taking unnecessary time off lifting.

Also, I hope you've changed your mind and are considering a higher dose. Do you plan on making this your only cycle?

i do plan to only do 1 cycle in my life

i don't want to stay dependent on steroids, i just want to make a responsible and effective increase and then maintain and build off that new foundation

Riiiiiight thats what most of us said, I havent even started my cycle and im already supplying up for my 2nd and 3rd. BTW you wont stay dependent on steroids they are non addictive. You can do a ton of cycles and be responsible about it and always have an "effective increase"

Do 500 mg a week, you wont regret it. But honestly if I was you i would wait a couple year anyways. Up your calorie intake and protein and slowly gain weight over the next 2 years then get into AAS.

^^^^ Agreed. I started this process thinking oh Just one cycle. Now the more I read and consider it, I'm pretty sure one cycle a year is going to be my style. Don't want to get huge, but I want that bump every now and then to keep me solid and work through those little plateaus.

You realize that once you get to your so called "natural potential", either naturally or with help from AAS, it's extremely difficult if not impossible to get any further, right?
