First doc appt. since low T results

While waiting to get my blood work Monday and schedule an appointment with the endocrinologist I have been searching my area (CT) for doctors who are well versed in TRT. I came across a Dr. O'Connor who practices Internal Medicine close to where I live. I guess he is a powerlifter who treats only men at his practice and treats a lot of powerlifters. He seems very experienced in TRT

His practice does accept my insurance, but unfortunately (cost wise) it is a "concierge practice". They charge a $2,750 annual retainer fee for primary care treatment. They also have a "lifters healthcare" option for $1,750 annually where I believe they would do your TRT protocol and treatment amount other things, but you would keep you usual general practitioner.

Has anyone experienced a practice like this?

Hey guys, I got back some more blood work. Can I get some help interpreting it?

FSH-O: 3.8 (range 1.5-12.4)
LH-O: 1.7 (range 1.7-8.6)

To me it looks like I'm in the low end for both, but I guess still in range. Does this indicate secondary hypogonadism? Or are these levels acceptable? I am waiting to hear from the doctor and also my TT, FT, and Cortisol results. My first blood test for TT was 159.

We need to see this along with TTnto be able to conclude anything.

Yeah that's me at 159 TT... I don't know what to say. I am not a big or strong person by any means, I have just leaned out recently. Right now I weigh 180lbs at 6'1". This is the most lean I have ever been.

Back on April 1st I got a trainer and started a cut and went from 200lbs to 180lbs. When I weighed 200lbs I was eating around 3,200 cals and got down to 180lbs by steadily dropping cals down to 2,150. When I got my blood work back with 159 TT we upped cals to 2,500 until I figure out what's going on.

I believe it. In my case, I built my muscle/got lean with perfect testosterone. Then I crashed to virtually nothing. Obviously I didn't lose all that muscle immediately which threw doctors off.

Yea Jim, I had heard of some other guys that had done okay with really low test levels. I don't know, maybe it is based on the individual. My trainer/coach was surprised I had done as well as I did with the cut with my levels so low. I definitely have all the related symptoms though so I am anxious to get things better. Been feeling pretty crappy for a long time now.

Cortisol results came in today:

A.M Cortisol: 13.6 (Range 4.0-22.0)

Right in the middle. Not sure if that is good or bad. Total Test and Free Test should hopefully be in tomorrow.

Were your docs "suspicious" of your low T when they first examined you?

You mean suspicious once they found out my test levels, or when I asked to get them tested in the first place?

I had my yearly physical and asked the doctor if she would add in TT, FT, and Thyroid to the blood work. She asked why, and I just said I wanted to make sure my levels were in check. I didn't feel comfortable talking to this specific doctor (she wasnt my usual doc) about my symptoms. For all I knew my test levels would come back fine. She said I was young and looked muscular and it was a waste of money. I persisted so she put me in for the blood work.

Once I got my results of 159 TT, I scheduled an appoitment with my usual doctor to talk to her about it. Once I talked to her about how I have been feeling for the past few years she wasn't suspicious at all.

It's fine. You don't want it to be over.

Hey guys,

My TT and FT results came in. Funny thing is I got a call from the office the and woman said "your testosterone level came back normal... they are better". I go online to see what they are and my TT was 217 and FT 40.1. Unreal that she said 217 TT is normal.. It's not even in range! They are faxing my results to the endo and they will contact me for an appt.

So my results back on June, 26th were:

TT: 159 (300-1100)
FT: 25.6 (no range given)
TSH-O - 1.86 (0.4 - 4.0)

And most current results on July, 14th are:

TT: 217 (300-1100)
FT: 40.1 (no range given)
FSH: 3.8 (1.5-12.4)
LH: 1.7 (1.7-8.6)
Cortisol a.m: 13.6

It fluctuates by up to 100 ng/dl maybe 120 ng/dl in sone ppl.
I'm no expert but the stuff I seen and am familiar with I woyld not expext it to get much higher like in the 300 ng range.

But who knows...
I don't know your history and I am floored you could actually be so lean and muscular with very hypogonadal T and at 30 y.o. too
Your being truthful with us right?
You never took any pro hormones or stuff like that right?

Yes, I am being honest guys. I have never touched steroids or pro hormone ( don't even know what they are). I would have no reason to lie about that. Man this is frustrating... All I have ever taken is whey protein, creatine and a pre workout like cellucor c4.

They faxed my results to an endo so I guess I need to wait to hear from them to schedule an appointment. Based on my TT, LH, and FSH is this secondary hypogonadism?

Thanks again guys for the help
