Ganglion on my hand

Ok, so over the last few months I began to notice a little bump at the top of my palm right on the joint of one of my fingers. It is the one in between the middle finger and pinky. As I continued to weightlift, the bump got worse and I recently went to the doc and he told me that I've got a decent sized ganglion (cyst) on the joint and that if it does not go down soon or the pain continues, then I will have to have it surgically removed. I did some research, and found that one may have to wait 6-8 weeks for it to fully recover. This can potentially mean no weightlifting for me for a long ass period of time. Has anyone developed one of these things on their hand before? If I go through with the surgery, then how long will I have to wait for full recovery so that I can start weightlifting again?

:molepoke:ew....

actually i have a cyst on my delt. its from sweat. one of your pores is closed and it just builds up so the more you sweat the bigger it will get. so dont sweat, k?

no really...when u have "surgery," they stick a needle in and suck all the oil out and its done. nothing to it. if it gets too big they will cut it out which i really...really doubt will put you out of weight lifting. its like saying if a cat scratched you on the back of your hand, you couldnt work out until it healed....bs

Thought you could just smash a ganglion and that would break it up??? I know that's what you do for one on the wrist..................or pulse ultrasound over a period of time to break it up.

Also, like wesley already said, even if they do surgery, it shouldn't be too big a deal.
