i have been using gatorade powder for post workout dextrose and drinking a protein shake. Its so damn hard to drink all that fluid though. Any ideas? 80g of dextrose in gatorade is alot

I prefer maltodextrin with a low dextrose equivelancy. Dextrose can get sickeningly sweet really fast. If you don't like sweetness that much, maltodextrin might work better for you.

from what i understand though,, maltodextrin is for COMPLEX carbs,,, so it is released in the system slowly. where dextrose is simple and spikes the insulin for a pwo recovery. soooo me personally i do as the cutting primer sticky recomends and use 50/50 split of both malt and dex. it is a bit sweet,,, but its not that bad.
Maltodextrin can actually help with the absorption of dextrose. They are best used together PWO. Take in about 50-60g of dextrose and about 30-40g of malto.
I also use both malto/dex in my pwo protein shake. My shake is 1.5 cups water, 1.5 cups skim milk, 2 scoops ON 100% Whey choc (46g pro) 0.5 cup malto (about 50g) 0.5 cup dex (about 50g) and about 15 ice cubes blended.
