Getting Bloodwork next week

My doctor ordered:

Total testosterone
Complete metabolic panel (he didnt get this last time, hmm)
CBC (last time i had low platelets)
PSA, TOTAL

What the hell is PSA total and why is he testing for it?

ELEVATED SERUM PSA CONCENTRATIONS HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN
MEN WITH PROSTATE CANCER, BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERTROPHY,
AND INFLAMMATORY CONDITIONS OF THE PROSTATE.

Prostate specific antigen. making sure its not elevated as that would lead to higher risk of prostate cancer. Long runs of testosterone can raise it, although typically not at testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) doses but it doesnt hurt to be safe.

I think -could be wrong -- the free test level is more important than total test levels. You can have high total test and the only usable test unbound testosterone is based on the Free test levels. When I went to my doc I told him I wanted both levels checked. Look into this as I may be wrong but many docs are clueless on HRT but won't admit it. I tried to find where I read this previously but could not find it. Maybe someone else can help clarify this.
