Why cant you do military press with free weights? Just curious.

My shoulders invariably become incredibly painful if I do more than one set every month. DB or BB.

I have had bad rotator cuf problems with both which I have pretty much rehabed. The key is avoiding anything that causes discomfort. I don't even do anything stuopid or any sort of high volume, but if I do certain lifts my shoulders go to hell. I'm just predisposed to these sort of problems.

I am not trained by DC, but I follow a DC program.

I have accumilated lots of into over the years and used it to design my program.

BUT I have always used the smith machine. IMO it is very under rated.

Smith Machine does have it's positives, although I'm not a big fan of it. I will use it once a month at the most to do a few sets of max out bench press.

It's indispensable for supersetting, compound sets, rest/pause. Basically any type of training variation that usually leads to bad form.

I wouldn't go as far as to say indispensable.

I think its a terrible machine, just terrible. Free weights & compound movments for life. If you have a training partner and do DC, F the smith
