OK question for the group. I have had this injury for about 2 years. doc calls it golfers elbow. Issue with the Tendon on the inside of the elbow. IT HURTS. In the past Year and a half I have had 2 Cortizone Shots. they worked and I went thru therapy. Well last night I was doing Wide Grip Pull ups And then went to dumbbell Rows and BANG It flaired up bad. Could not finish my work out could barely turn a door nob.

My question to the group is do any of you have this issue or something similar? What do you do for it and what do you do to avoid it. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. REally bothers me when i do back. and bi's. Any suggestions would be awsome. I have another DR appt on the 4th. I really want to aviod surgery at all costs and I really don't want to stop working out. I don't know any suggestion gang. Please help thanks

I have the same problem bro. My doc told me surgery is the only way. I think he called it Tommy John surgery. but i dont want to do that so i just grin and bare it.

Ugh. I am hoping to avoid that at all costs. I don't want to be out of the gym for 6mnths. I don't think I can grin and bear it anymore. It is really getting bad. all bruised and swollen. So have a appt for monday. See what doc says. Do you wear a brace? and what exercises do you do that aggravate it even more. I was doing back and man those dumb bell rows really seem to bother it. anyway i will let you know what happens. anyone else have any insight?

Hey bro, I have the same thing, only difference is it goes away after a good 4 months. During this time I usually just do other excersizes that avoid the pain. The wierd thing is its like the tendon just "snaps" (interpret loosly please) and BANG you have the problem again. I usually massage the tendon area befiore each set of a questionable excersize and never stretch too much/hard. IMO it should heal, Ive never heard of it lasting years bro. Do you constantly bother it?

Well obviously curls really set it off. and pretty much anything bicep oriented hurts. theres no way i can take 4-6 months off and lose everything i have gained. But like DougoeFre5h suggested rubbing it before workouts doesnt really do anything for me. I just ice it down afterards and pop a codine if i need too.

Were you receiving physical therapy at the same time as the injections? Getting the injections alone without the therapy at the same time does almost nothing. Also, this injury is a very stubborn one and you need to rest it and stop doing anything that aggravates it. You also need to start doing some stretches and light strengthening exercises followed by ice for about 10 minutes to reduce the inflammation from the exercises. Also, did you ever receive ultrasound or iontophoresis? Surgery is NOT the only option.

Thanks Dude for the info. Yes I went to PT did about 6 weeks worth. I also had the ultrasound treatment as well. I just got back from the Doc and he gave me a diff brace to wear and told me to work on my exercises the the Physical threapist gave me. Said if not better in 4 weeks we will get an MRI. The pain isn't the hard part it is being out of the gym. How much rest is enough? Thanks again for the input.
