HIGH Estrogen Question

I recently started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for all the normal stuff, specifically weight loss and muscle growth. I am currently injecting 100mg/week of test cyprionate. My starting level of free testosterone was 160 ng/dl and now they are at 616 ng/dl.

I've had a horrible time getting the weight of since starting, and have always suffered from extreme gyno since the age of 13 (which I know is partially due to my weight). I had suspicions about estrogen, so I asked my endo to do the blood work.

It came back as 83 pg/ml, which I have read that a normal high is 35. She said I shouldn't be worried about it because I am not taking enough T to create those levels and as long as I am doing cardio, that number should come down. I asked her about drugs, but she refused to put me on anything. But I am wondering if high estrogen has been the problem all along rather than the low T. My body would certainly tell that story.

I am considering going to a second doctor, but thought I would check here. Does that advice sound right?

Was that an E2 sensitive lab? That info would be good to know...
I wouldn't say that high estrogen rather than low T has been your problem...Your T is definitely a problem but it could definitely be a combo of the two.
I dont agree with your docs choice of not giving you an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) to get your E2 levels down into a normal range but I can understand that she wants to see you drop your BF% and then retest your E2 levels. Theoretically, they should come down. I don't think it would hurt to get a second opinion on that because if you could start an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) then you would have a much easier time dropping the weight. If all else fails, you could just order some liquid Aromatase inhibitor (AI) through one of the board sponsors.

83 is too high - i've read somewhere in the 20s works best for most folks. check with the sponsors and get some liquid armidrex if the doc doesn't help.

Which type of estrogen did you have tested and what type of lab test was performed?

The numbers for T you listed look like Total T numbers, not Free T.

This was from Labcorp and it was estradiol.

I went ahead an purchased Anastrozole (1mg per ml) from PurchasePeptides.com. Hoping that will help. Any advice on dosing?

.25mg two times per week ia a good place to start. Anastrozole is pretty strong stuff. Of course you would be better off finding a doctor who isn't a doorknob to prescribe it to you.

You could also try splitting your test injection into two times per week. That often helps reduce aromatisation. You might be able to avoid having to use an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) by doing this.

Thanks megaton!

I'm actually starting to think that my high estrogen might have been the major issue all along, and the low T was just a symptom. I have gyno from age 13 that will now need surgery. Wish I would have caught this at that age!

My endo never tested for estrogen to begin with, which should have been a warning.

Sadly, that seems to be par for the course for most docs. The truth is that you are going to have to know more about testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) than your docs do so you can guide your treatment. You need to be the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) expert.

Dump the doctor. You need surgery for gyno but she's not concerned with estrogen?

You do have a large problem with estrogen. You also had a problem with T. That may be indicative that you had normal T levels at one point but have issues with converting your T to E2. Take the Adex. .25mg EOD in the beginning. You can back off or add more Aromatase inhibitor (AI) as you need it.

Thanks totalburnout! I'm super new to this, so how will I know if I'm taking too little / too much? What are the side effects?

I was given some other advice to take .5 eod... but I guess that's the good and bad thing about these forums. Everyone's up for giving helpful advice :)

The best way to know how much Aromatase inhibitor (AI) you need at a certain dose of test is by getting frequent bloodwork to see how your body is responding. Going by feel is tough because some of symptoms of high and low estrogen feel the same.
