HIIT Nutrition and Results

See the light
Hey I have started doing sprints in the morning before work on my off days, then after work I'll go to the gym and do the typical 45 minute walking on incline thing.
I was wondering what would be the best pre-nutrition thing before the sprints in the morning to maximize fat loss and minimize muscle loss:
a) nothing
b) protein shake w/ water
c) protein shake w/ water and flax oil
d) some form of lean meat

Also what are some of your results that you guys have had using it.
All the studies I've seen are using fat bastards as the test subjects. I'm wondering what someone why is already muscular and lean will get from this.

Thanks,

b) protein shake w/ water I suppose. I was a sprinter for 6 years, I don't know how you can go all out in the a.m without any carbs. But that's just me, I guess everyone's different. What distances are you running?

I'm just starting so it's pretty much working me over. I do 4 - 100m sprints. I do one, then walk back and repeat (after a warmup of course).

Oh you're cool then, a protein shake should be enough. Once you start running 200's and quarter repeats (like 8-12) then I would suggest you take in some carbs. But for short distances like that you'll be fine.

Keep us posted. HIIT is awesome not only for fat loss but also GREAT in increasing natural GH

If you have amino acids available, cardio is actually anabolic, it becomes catabolic when you don't. I would suggest some carbs anyhow ast he principle behind HIIT is to raise your metabolism throughout the day and not just during the time you're running.

Ha, yeah that won't be for a little while. I plan on trying to do this on my off days all summer long.
I'll keep you guys and girls posted on how it works for me.
Thanks for the tip Insane man.

As for the HIIT are you doing the jog for 30sec then sprint for 30sec method or are you just sprinting 20-30yards and doing it over again. I am just curious b/c I have people tell me one works better than the other and other people say vice versa?

I'm sprinting 100m uphill (probably 15-20 seconds) then I walk back down.
I had/have a herniated disc in my lower back so sprinting on flat ground is too much compression for it. Plus uphill is harder work. :)
20-30 yards would be a waste of time if you ask me. You'd be done in less than 5 seconds for each sprint.
The 30 second thing is if you don't go 100%. I think you are supposed to do 90% of your max. If you can sprint at your fastest speed for 30 seconds you are in far better condition than I am. Isn't 40-50 seconds enough to make it around a 400m track once? I don't know too many people that can go 100% for that long. Especially bodybuilders.
Your welcome to try but I know if I tried to pull that off you'd be having to bury me at around the 300m point, I'd probably also have been crawling the last 50m.

when do you guys think its the best time to do cardio or HIIT to burn fat and not losing muscle?
on empty stomach or maybe 2 hours after the breakfast?
