how common is tendinitis and knee pain/elbow pain for bodybuilders?

ya, it will happen but IME volume and heavy ass weight has to be approached with intention... I was lifting decently heavy and working multiple times/day the same exercise and developed elbow issues quickly, it's just too much on the joints and resulted in an impingement in my case.

I kept pushing through the pain like others did and once I was warmed up it wasn't so bad so I thought no problem... it was a problem, took months of rehab and melted all the muscle I had worked to build on that injury and then some.

Since then I have been focusing on efficiency, spending as little time with heavy weight as possible to reach hypertrophy and then drop set down to lesser weight with high reps to fail. When I first started I kept hearing people talk about doing less volume and thought "but I want MOAR gainz" lol it's not being efficient only for your time's sake, it's for your body's sake as well. Achieve the most effect with the least amount of wear and tear on your body is the key to a long career in this IMO.
