How long is the same testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose good for?

How long is the same TRT dose good for?

How long is the same testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose for?
lets say for example a male takes 160 mg/7days...
How long till the receptors get used to it and the effect diminishes?
I heard over time one has to keep increasing their dose as the body gets used to it and it does not deliver the same results...
Is this true?

I don't believe this is true. If it were, what would keep the body from being desensitized to its own production? The body is already trying to re-establish homeostatis another way - reducing production. Reductions in sensitivity make more sense for exogenous substances.

Eventhough I tend to agree with you doesn't exogenous mean "from outside the body" so wouldn't a testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose still be exogenous?

I can't tell you for sure what happens but I can tell you that my doctors have refused to adjust dosing for 15 years straight now.

They refuse to adjust the dosing from when they put me on initially at 140lbs, I'm 240lbs and 2' taller today..... Just tested at 428ng/dl (ref range 200-1100) and they STILL refused to adjust anything.....

6 different endo's through 4 different facilities, not a one willing to deviate from that dosing.

I can't remember. How much are you taking per week and where does that put your TT? I am guessing it has changed a little over the year as your body composition has changed --TT that is. Is that correct?

Heh, got me on my ninja edit:

This is on 100mg/wk

Body comp has changed dramatically, height, weight, structure, everything and they still refuse to change anything. You are incorrect in the assumption that my dosing has changed at ALL in those 15 years.
The ONLY thing they've allowed me to do is take over my own injections less than 6 months ago.
By doing that I was finally able to go e3.5d instead of the e14d that they had me on for 15 years.
The total dosing is still the same, the peaks and troughs are just less now.

The scary thing is, for 13 of those years they never did blood work and I was too trusting to know otherwise.

I've got stories about these idiots that would make you want to punch kittens (as Half puts it)

No, I understood that your dose has remained the same. I was guessing that your TT level has changed over the years. Any idea where it used to put you at compared to today's 428? I am just curious to see how much your body comp changes have affected your TT levels.

Yes, my wording was poorly chosen. The T may be exogenous, but the body doesn't know that. The body thinks it has control over T production so the response to an excess is to throttle back production, not decrease response.

I wish I knew.
The docs and endo's never took regular blood work for the first 13 years.
Even when they did, I never got a "baseline average", just a random, nearly useless snap shot.
The bloods I've started demanding a couple years ago while on 200mg e14d would put me over 1200 then down to 200 every two weeks with a bw of 240. I could only imagine what that would do to a dude who's 100 lbs lighter.

It's embarrassing that I took such a back seat roll in my own health for so long.
A lot of it was getting over the mental hump of being broken.

Request photocopies of your labs from every visit. Maintain your own records. Take charge bro.

I do. It's sitting less than 2 feet away from me right now.
The problem is, records can't exist for the 13 years prior if they never took bloods.

These were Endo's ? and not testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinic docs right?

Yes, Avido's case makes me definitely want to punch kittens, or at least some douchey doctors.

Apollon: Once you're dialed in and you don't make any drastic changes to your physical composition, you should theoretically be able to stay at that dose indefinitely. As I've lost body fat over the years, my dose has actually become more potent if anything. But that makes sense as they say a leaner body is a more anabolic one. ;)

Straight endo's, endo/metabolism specialists, GP's but not testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinics or urologists. 6 different docs altogether.

How are you 2' taller today?
You mean inches(") instead of feet(') right ?

I was put on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) at a very early age.

He's been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for 15yrs he said. 2 feet is realistic In that time frame.
Bingo.

It's good to know what I'm going through is abnormal.
This site has been as much a support group as it is a source of information for me :)
