How much dextrose goes in the PWO whey protein shake?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Casein slows down the absorption of both the whey and the malto/dextro, it's not the right thing to be using post workout

There is a new study out.. Let me find it. It was trying casien with the post workout drink and seems my current setup might be better. Im in the testing phase.

"Forty-four resistance training men received either 48g of carbs alone, 40g of whey and 8g of casein, or 40g whey + 5g glutamine + 3g BCAA. At the end of ten weeks, the group getting the whey with the 8g of casein gained more LBM than the other groups."

Too many carbs whenever will make me fat. That is part of the reason I've hesitated to use dextrose in the PWO. When I was bulking, I simply used milk and I was extremely happy with the results, although it is easy to grow when you are just getting started.

Didn't know that. The preworkout shake should have what? Just protein?

I dont have the referance but Lonnie Lowery has said that research shows you can't gain fat from mid and post-workout carbs. Adrenalin prevents this from happening.

I'm skiptical, but if somehow this is true, then that would be very interesting, indeed.

The preworkout drink has shown to be of more importance from an musclebuilding view.

I always down a high protein shake preworkout and postworkout.

With the preworkout shake you are going to make those Amino acids available for the time after the workout.

With the postworkout shake your body still needs to metabolize the protein before it can be used. That takes time.

The dextrose that I received states a serving size of 1.25 tsp (4g) has 4g of carbs and 15 calories. But I also know that the FDA doesn't require very specific numbers on these nutritional labels. For example, if the product has 4.9 carbs and 19.6 calories, the food manufacturer is allowed to put 4 carbs and 15 calories on the package.

Somewhat unrelated but interesting to me: You haven't really had something sweet until you've had pure sucralose: 600 times sweeter than sugar. When I used to mix it with water, even the air turned super sweet because sucralose is so intensely sweet and the little bit that got into the air made the air sweet. Actually, pure sucralose tastes bitter for some people; not me though.

Mranak,,, take the scooper from your protein,,, and use 1 full scoops of dex. that will give you what you need. that is assuming that you are using 2 scoops of prot as well.
