how much difference does a shirt make

anywhere from as little as 30 lbs to as much as 300+

lol
thats exactly what i was going to say 10-300+

Inked unless you a natural in a shirt dont expect to get 300 out of for a long long time..and even at that only a few are getting that much..

Could somebody explain to me what exactly a shirt does and how? I figured I would have picked up on this tidbit of information by now, but I have not.

edit: corrected spelling of shirt as "shirt" rather than "shit".

are we talkin about taking a shit before you bench, or wearing a shirt while you bench?

how can wearing a shirt (like a t shirt?) increase your bench 10-300????

a shirt , not a shit and its not a t shirt but a specially made shirt of either denim, polyester,or occasionally canvas . the material can be so strong and the fit so tight that it cantake hundreds of pounds [ ive seen a shirt that 700 pounds ] just to touch the bar to the chest .

lol, i'm not even thinking of getting a shirt. maybe some where waaaaaaaaaaaaay down the track, just curious to their effect. can any of you PL guys post the differences that they make for you?

people who compete in shirts rarely train raw bench. there are so many different styles of shirt that give varying degrees od support as well. it is impossible to answer your question. some guys cant use a shirt. raw bench and shirted benching are two completely different lifts. i have nmerous guys get a shirt and after a while give up on it. if you not competing using a shirt is sensless unles you doing it for shoulder support. the biggest mistake guys who get a shirt make is trying to figure it out by themselves. wasted hours, days and months are spent trying to dial it in without litttle to no progress. its an art and not a bench.

0.000000000- 300ish pounds. And if you bench 200 or 300 there is no way you are going to get another 300, you dont have the triceps for it or even the wrists for it.

I do some raw lifting as the Metal Militia routine calls for it, but its pretty little and not on the same plane of motion. I do decline/incline on raw day or I may do dumbells for fun. It took me awhile to get the hang of wearing the shirt "right," waiting for the shirt to break in, noticing that the cut is not quite right for me (I can't arch in the shirt but a matter of inches), the belt cuts mobility as well so I need a thinner one, blah blah blah.

The list goes on.

Also, if you are afraid of marks on your body, you dont want a shirt. I have an old pic below from one of my first shirt sessions. My shirt is not tightly fitted nor is it double ply either.
