how would an intense sport like water polo effect dieting?

So I'm about to start water polo where I need to swim for 2 hours straight. Do I need to eat more just that day or can I eat more throughout the week to slow my weight loss?
 
I wanna lose fat and not muscle so that's my goal haha!

Make sure to get your macros in and especially proper protein, possibly lower training volume but keep up the intensity, and eat enough so you're not dropping more than 1-2lbs/wk
 
Im not on a cycle, is it a big deal that I eat more on the day I work out heavy or should I spread it throughout the week?
 
No it's not a big deal, whatever is most convenient for you. If not on a cycle, try not to lose too much weight at once so eat accordingly
