hydrolyzed casein pwo

I was reading the info about each of the protein powders on trueprotein.com and I noticed that most of hydrolyzed casein passes the stomach and is absorbed by the small intestine. Is whey's absorption rate better? It seems like this would make the HC better for PWO.

source
"Hyrdrolyzed Casein

True Protein’s Hydrolyzed Casein is derived from fresh
skim milk. Hydrolyzed Casein is processed and extracted
from casein protein, which is then specially prepared into
an enzymatic hydrolysate. This process provides the user
with a rich source of short chain peptides and amino acids.

Though Casein and Caseinate proteins are known for there
slow digestion, Hydrolyzed Casein is still assimilated by
the body very quickly. Since it is a hydrostat the proteins
are partially digested, up to 80% of the proteins bypass the
stomach and are absorbed directly through the small intestine.

Studies have shown that Hydrolyzed Casein might be the best
protein for building muscle and preventing catabolism (muscle
breakdown). Studies have also shown that hydrolyzed proteins
with short chain amino acids (di and tri peptides) can increase
IGF-1.

Hydrolyzed Casein is a great product, but again like many of
our other hydrolyzed proteins, this product is extremely bitter.
When custom mixing your own blends, keep Hydrolyzed Casein
below 25% for a good tasting product. We recommend you order
your Hydrolyzed Casein separate to see how much the bitterness
effects you."

casein is digested slow, whey is digested the fastest.

it doesnt make a humongous difference, but whey tends to be the obligatory PWO protein.

casein is absorbed slower that is why poeple use it at night.

If you are looking for a good protein go with Cold-Filtration. If you need to slow the absorption, add some EFA's or complex carbs to the mix.

The cold-Filtration also doesn't have a taste to it. I know the one you mentioned is supposed to have a strong taste and you can only use a small amount in your shakes or else it will taste horrible.

IMO Cold-Filtration is their best all round powder.

This is the portion I'm focusing on:

I guess really my question is what does TP mean by assimilated.

So even though the HC bypasses the stomach it still has a slow digestion rate?

When I posted my first message I was under the impression that it skips the stomach digestion and begins digestion in the small intestine. Now I'm thinking that even though it skips the stomach it takes much longer to go through the intestine alone than whey does when going through stomach + instestine. Is anyone following me?

I've heard this of hydrolyzed whey, is it true about hydrolyzed casein also?

yes. it tastes like crap.i use hydrolized casein before bed50/50 with whey. post wo i use hydrolyzed whey520, which also tastes terrible (worse than the casein). i personally dont mind the bad taste as i just pound it down anyway, but some people have a real problem with it. i can honestly say that my recovery feels faster with hydrolized whey, and in the morning i feel well rested and "full". i reccomend it if you dont have a problem with the taste. checkout proteinfactory.com for comparable prices, they might even havs a sale.

ya flavor's not an issue for me either, im just wondering if the hydrolyzation process makes casein a superior choice for pwo benefit.

i wouldnt go more than 40% of your pwo protein in casein, the rest whey.really i wouldnt use the casein at all pwo. imo you should keep the casein for nighttime, and morning blends.

Doggcrapp has posted here, but I don't think he checkes out the site frequently. Plus, TP is opening a new website, so I know they are pretty busy with that.

Its pretty easy to send an Email and you should get an answer pretty quick. Or you can go to intensemuscle.com and ask over there.
