hyperextensions vs deadlift

Yeah, bad idea. There are so many variations of the deadlift that work more of your muscles...and no offense or anything, but I just don't see how you CAN'T add more weight...Try ADDING an exercise, like good mornings, to your routine in addition to the deadlifts...

i was thinking of doing hyperextensions instead of deadlift cause i cant add weight no more on my deadlifts ,,is it a good idea ?
tell us more. not enuf info. also, what is your concept of a hyperextension?

What kind of deadlifts are you doing? Are you using proper form? What rep range, weight, etc are you using? Any idea where your weakpoints in the lift might be? Some guys, it's their legs holding them back, some it's their lower back being too weak, even a weak grip can be blamed once in a while.
Some other lifts used to strengthen those areas could bring up your deads.

*ADD* hyperextensions and good mornings if it's your lower back...but like Behemoth said, what's your rep/set/weight numbers??

You don't want to take out deadlifts unless you're actually injuring yourself with the movement somehow...it's one of the big three lifts that everyone should have in their routine, at a minimum...

When in your routine do you do DLs?? I'm assuming with other back work?? What's the rest of your back routine like??

:dunno:

if you've stalled out on conventional deadlifts try another variation as some suggested making sure you're meeting nutrient requirements and not overtraining

stiff legged, rack pulls, sumo -- there are many variations

the hypers and GMs are good assistance exercises and will help build a strong lower back

You could try comparing hypers to an SLDL but not a standard deadlift, not the same movement!
