I am addicted to sodas, well the caffeine in the soda I guess. I drink a soda for lunch and dinner and I know how bad it is for my diet. I really want to kick this habit, but I get huge "caffeine headaches" and feel like crap when I dont drink them.

Can yall give suggestions on how to get off of sodas?

Welp, will power has a lot to do with it. You are probably going to/are battling these 3 things:

Caffeine withdrawal
Sugar withdrawal
and i wouldn't be surprised if the lack of carbonation in your stomach will cause some stomach cramps/queezy feelings after stopping the consistent flow of it.

So, grab some mylanta, make sure you drink a ton of water to flush yourself out....don't go into Hyponatremia by too much water...

Ween yourself off it... use 2-3 days to do so.

If you drink 18 per day, next day do 9, then 3, then none.

Should make it more bearable.

Drink some black coffee if you need the caffeine. Its 100% better for you than soda.

The high fructose corn syrup/sugar you shouldnt be having anyways so dont try to find an alternative.

You could also drink tea in place of the soda, either way your obviously not going to be as satisfied as with a soda but give it time and you'll get there.

I was a diet coke junkie and still have 1 or 2 a day but have moved to unsweetened iced tea and usually ad 2 equals or sweet and low. Im trying to drop the artificial sweeteners too but gotta do one thing at a time. My goal is to move to only water and unsweetened iced tea. I definitely want the caffeine.

great advice imo...

Damn, don't ever try drugs if you're having difficulty quitting soda pop...

Seriously though, good luck on that.

Just drink Coke Zero. No sugar and still has caffiene. I would still cut down on the mount each day.

And grow some nuts and have some discipline and willpower already... its not meth. :D

I feel your pain Frisco. I ate a chocolate bar and a coke for lunch everyday for a year. 40 lbs later I started hitting the gym and eating right. I quit cold turkey. It sucked for a week but then it was over.

I also used to drink numerous amounts of coke a day probably a 12 pack. I quit cold turkey too and never looked back. Tried to drink one a couple weeks ago it tasted like crap I gave it to my daughter. It gets much easier took me about 2 weeks to loose cravings. Good luck brother

Thanks for the advise guys. I know I need to just nutt up and drop it.

I was thinking I will cut down to drinking soda at only 1 meal per day instead of both meals (lunch & dinner). Do this for 8 or 9 days.

Then go cold turkey from there.

Those who were addicted to soda and ended up stopping drinking it....... did you feel better overall once you did quit and got past the withdrawl? Also, did you notice any fat loss?

I used to drink soda all the time. Literally all the time. I hardly take a sip these days now. It was a slow process, but I basically began by replacing them with fruit juices. I also drank black coffee with 5grams of sugar in it from time to time to get the caffine boost. I also drink Earl Gray and regular tea's alot now. I'm far more hydrated and better off for it.

Fat loss wasn't my goal for stopping, but I did lose fat around my midsection.

If you are going to drink sodas tho just drink them before, during or straight after your workouts and put the sugar to good use.
